Nice Oc...i was curious just to see your vcore at that speed...no wonder wasnt hitting it! 1.58v....yikes. I have hit 3.56ghz w/ as little as 1.42v in BIOS and stable. Temps are also the limiting factor for me w/ a 100% oc -24/7. Keep up the progress.

Can you say the stepping etc.? Basically everything you know, I want to know. If I ever get a conroe anyway.

Easiest way is to click the CpuZ validation links in my sig. Stepping is listed amongst all the other cpu info. You are interested in the E6700 correct?

Yessir. I might get a conroe, and e6700 sounds nice.

I am glad I got my hands on one. For having only a single GPU, I have been extremely happy with the performance gain that I got out of upgrading. I have been able to hit a respectable 6318 on 3d 06, with my GPU clocked down to 630mhz on 1.4v. It doesnt struggle through FEAR @ 1600x1080, full Q and FSA any more either!

Benching or not, I wouldn't feed that voltage through my $500+ CPU without phase

But, I also don't care about benching, I like to get the highest effective overclock that's 24/7 stable.

My verifications do not reflect what I use as a clock everyday. I run 3.2ghz @ 400mhz fsb w/ no vcore modification at all, 1:1.

Is one more difficult, tedious or temperamental than the other?

Sdumper was talking about the performance level of the two chips, and their differences. Cache levels that determine the difference will probably make little difference until the software designers start "using" it more in code sequences.
