Whatever happened to good stealth/tactical based games? - Page 2

The first Sniper Elite was a good stealth game. If you have PS1 or PS2 or want to use an emulator you can try out the syphon filters.

It is on PC as well, and in fact is only $2.50 on Steam until Wednesday. I'm seriously considering picking it up.

I think stealth games are just out of the picture nowadays because it's not "what's hot", and that's a real shame, because I loved those type of games.

I loved Thief Deadly Shadows, I wish I could play that game again. Speaking of Thief and stealth games, isn't there a new Thief in development, or has that been canceled?

yeh sniper elite and the thief games are great! smile.gif no idea if there's a new thief game in development - i would love that!!

i get what you guys are saying about multiplayer games but i don't think the single player story lines will ever die out, so stealth games aren't out of the question. i mean you can always do co-op stealth games if it has to be multiplayer with it also having a multiplayer vs mode to. stuff tends to go in circles though so im sure stealth games will be back sometime. people will get bored of generic fps after generic fps at some point. i do love a good fps myself though, its just a good format for a game! im much more for the tactical ones though as i said. i did have a bit of fun with the first modern warfare when it first came out but soon got bored. there's something about the call of duty games that just disgusts me lol. ive actually played most of them at some point and i feel like every single one is the same game with different skins on it. thank god rpg's are still going strong though! games like skyrim and the witcher 2 coming out make me happy smile.gif

Crysis 1, warhead and 2 can be played quite stealthy, I'd give 2 a go with the dx11 patch and hi res textures. I've been playing it again lately and having fun sneaking around in cloak.

Tenchu was a blast back in its time, forgot about that! If you have a ps3 or psp get mgs peace walker, it really is great, metal gear solid 5 essentially, it's a sequel to metal gear solid 3's story.

It's worth getting a ps3 for the exclusives like mgs4 in my opinion, I'm enjoying mine.

Other than that there is splinter cell conviction which you can get for dirt cheap.

i played through crysis 1 and warhead ages ago. you're right that stealth is a part of the gameplay but not quite the sort of game that im on about. i have crysis 2 but it hasn't really kept me interested tbh :/ tenchu was one of the best stealth games ever yeh smile.gif i dont have a ps3 but i'll likely get one again as i like the uncharted games - still need to play the third one! i didn't like mgs 4 really. i mean it was a good game but stealth wasn't necessary in the slightest! i loved the way that you had to be clever in the old mgs games and not just run and gun! i bought splinter cell conviction when it came out, played it on the hardest difficulty and was very disappointed with it. again - stealth wasn't much of a focus. way to easy to just blast your way through :/ i'll keep mgs peace walker in mind though incase i get another ps3, thanks thumb.gif

btw, aren't they making more mgs games or something similar but with a different name?

theres the raiden game. And I thought I heard about the next MGS coming out on PC, somewhere in the news section.
