Is my linksys router dieing?

I have a Linksys WRT54Gv8 ... with dd-wrt flashed on it.

I moved the other day and had it unplugged for almost a day.

When I went to plug it in, the 4 LAN lights would flash once and that was it.

After about 10 tries it finally powered up.

Is this normal?

You might wanna do a hard reset. Check the wiki reference on DD-WRT for your model.

It's basically a 30-30-30 power cycle of the device. Holding the reset button 1st 30s(power on), remove the power cable(still holding, 60s) and reconnect the power cable(still holding, 90s). You hold it for a total of 90sec.

Then let it work, while it builds the NVRAM(DO NOT POWER OFF!) for at least 3mins after the procedure. Once you have the WLAN led stable, and not blinking you're good to go. smile.gif

Let it power cycle one last time just removing/connecting the power cord(no need to wait between) and access the DD-WRT page to configure name/password and other Internet settings.

It's almost acting like it's a bad capacitor somewhere ... it wasn't getting to the point that it was even trying to boot.
