Lenovo X130e: Worst touchpad in history

Thread Starter
Not a complaint thread, but it really is just that awful.

I've lost multiple documents, made countless typos, and wasted a lot of time trying to correct the errors of this awful touchpad. Not only is it extremely choppy, especially when using it to scroll, but I have clicked on it accidentally so many times now that it has gotten to the point where I want to rip it out of the netbook itself.

Is there any way to disable it without having to physically unplug it?

I tried checking device manager and I uninstalled PS/2 Complaint Mouse but it's still functioning properly. Any help would be fantastic...

uhh... go to control panel -> mouse and you should be able to disable the trackpad there. Is it really that bad? You sure you don't need to update the drivers etc? (I don't know, I always heard it was a good alternative to atoms)

Check the BIOS, some have an option to disable it.

How the hell can it be so bad that you "lost multiple documents"?

And I throw in a mention for the S10-2 as having a terrible trackpad. The keyboard was way worse though.

Maybe there's something wrong with your touchpad? I have yet to have a single major issue (or anything above minor occasional annoyance) with a Synaptics touchpad - this from using Acers, Dells, Lenovos, and a Toshiba Portege with Synaptics touchpads. Now Elantech, some of those are just junk. This guys say's it's improved over the X120e. http://forum.notebookreview.com/thinkpad-edge-x1-x100e-x120e-sl-l/643352-lenovo-x130e-3.html#post8375761

Go to Control Panel -> Mouse -> Ultranav tab and uncheck Enable Touchpad.

And if you can believe it, the x220's touchpad is even worse; it's a clickpad with integrated buttons that are a pain to use.

hmmm.. I was gonna get this brand too... I think it's the same.

Don't get me wrong, the netbook itself is absolutely fantastic - I have always been a fan of using the little nipple instead of the touchpad anyways. I'm just saying that this one is terrible. Don't even think of resting your hands when you type, otherwise your crosshair will swipe across the screen and depending on whatever you're doing, it will have adverse affects.

For example:

#1) Typing on OCN, I accidentally erased everything I was typing since it swiped across, highlighting all my material, and I typed another letter which overwrote what I had typed. An easy fix since CTRL+Z works with this, but nonetheless still annoying.

#2) (this made me the most angry) As I was making this thread, my netbook must have known and I hit the touchpad for one reason or another and it went back to the previous page, completely wiping out everything I had typed. This could not be undone.

It sounds more like you're not using good form and hitting the touchpad while typing ...

If you want a bad touchpad, use a Dell

The fact that it even has a touchpad is heresy. The x200 never had one and it worked just fine.

Lenovo doesn't put any effort into touchpads because they know they are garbage. Go into UltraNav and set it to scroll only and you'll be a happier person.
