So the 7900 should be able to run games from like 5+ years ago. Newer games would be tough obviously. If he isn't going to play demanding games, it'll be alright.

Hmmm ... I was rocking a 7800GT fairly soon after HL2 came out and I remember completely maxing the game no problem (1280x1024) including maxed AA. Heck, even the 9700Pro I had on release day could damn near max it. That game was hella easy to run.

Given that you'll be using the DX9 API, the 7800GTX will handle WoW just fine, esp. if the resolution is kept fairly low. Probably could max WoW out at 720p, actually.

With a new graphics card, yes, it tends to be ... with an old GPU, though ... it's a lot less likely to be cpu-bound because you'll be running at a much lower fps wink.gif

maybe.but when you enter oggrimar whatever gpu you have your cpu do the work.i used to have an athlon x2 and a 4870x2.when i as in ogrimmar my fps was around 10.when i change my cpu with a phenom 965 i was steady around 45-50 fps
