Thread Starter
Just started ocing my new 8120, the CPU Temp is getting high but each core temp is ok, should I keep going? Does CPU Temp really matter? Thanks

CPU Temp does matter. Look at the core temps in HWMonitor, not the CPU temperature because that is just the socket temp. Keep the core temps under 55C for 24/7 use.

AI Suite popups a warning whein CPU Temp hits 65 deg C, but my core temps are hitting 46 tops, I was worried about the warning popup, but I will try to push it farther, also any advice on max cpu voltage, and if it helps, i have a corsair H80 cooler. Im currently at 16.5x267 for 4.4ghz at 1.30v, any input would be appreciated, thanks.

every chip is different, but you already knew that didnt you?

Try upping the CPU freq. in small amounts at the time(~100-200MHz) untill it fails in prime95(test for a small amount of time between each adjustment, I like to test for ~2-3h), when(if) it fails try increasing the voltages, again in small amounts(you dont want to cause any more heat than nessesary) untill it passes the test. To finish off test for ~24h in prime95(blend).
Temps should stay below 61C, but as previously stated below 55C for good measure.

That said Id say you should overclock using the multiplyer as well, overclocking the FSB also overclocks all the other components on the board and it may damage other hardware.
