Ok so here is a comparison directly from Intel site: http://ark.intel.com/compare/53478,53476

*No matter how much i TRY I do not seem to be able to find a single difference between the said processors?

Please help me understand why 2960XM costs 500$ more...?

The processor is destinated for the laptop MSI X460DX

It looks like it's part of the extreme series of Intel CPUs so it does have more power than the standard CPU due to instruction sets or something like that. In all honesty, unless you plan to do serious number crunching or you have money to burn, it's not worth it.

Yea but you see the part that confuses me is that nothing like that is mentioned in the official comparison directly from intel..

*And yes I do plan on taking the laptop to the limits but yet again I donnot see anything that states it's superior than 2860QM......?

I donnot care about the differences between the GHz because that is simply not reflecting/explaining the price differences.......!

Although you mentioned this....? Can someone please explain to me what this actually means - what's the function of the sockets...?

And what about this...........? Anybody got an idea of what this is all about....?

The first spec in the list is for the 2960XM

doesnt matter what you care about the diffrence is the power it consumes (TDP) and the frequency. it also has a slightly better bus so i may be better clock for clock. But for double the price its not even close to being worth it. You may noticed maybe at most 1 fps more in a game but thats about it.

It has an unlocked multiplier , you can overclcok it easily.
I say it's not worth it unless you plan overclocking.

Good luck smile.gif
