THANK YOU- people we aren't stealing music from artists. Sure, they get royalties, but the fame and loyalty of their fans is what really matters, so technically so what if you download their song, their message got out to you- thus you might be one of their fans they see at a show. These record companies in the RIAA don't give a DAMN about the artists, they care about all is the money that goes into their pockets....they just throw the artist thing on for size.

I can just move

Realistically, the RIAA needs somebody to shut them up. Plus, isnt this like breaking the law? If it is, what happened to the saying "Nobody's above the law?" That statement also includes the RIAA. I cant go to sleep now, becuase I'm afraid that they'll take away all FM radio, including AM radio (not worthy, but still, they play music).

This is such BS. RIAA is breaking the law. First off, if you pay for a service like XM you are allowed by law to record that. It's no different from recording a show on your DVR or VCR. That is completely legal. 2nd, FM and AM radio along with broadcast TV are all on PUBLIC airways and those airways belong to us as set forth by the FCC. We have the right to record and listen to those airways as we see fit. That doesn't mean you can sell it or rebroadcast but we are free to use it for our own use. It's sad to see that Creative just rolled over without a fight but what do you expect when they are being bought off. I will continue doing what I do!!! They don't have enough money to take on the whole world so they will always be fighting a losing battle. Power to the people!!

In this case, commonly referred to as the BetaMax Case, the courts ruled that it was a fair use to record broadcast television for private in-home use. How is recording off the radio to a personal media player any different? If you ask me, it's not.

Well my ZEN wont be getting that update...

I dont use the FM radio because I only listen to Capital Gold which is MW but recording radio should be fine... We have had tape players for in our homes since the early 1960s recording radio or doing other media to tape recordings.

The biggest thing I find stupid about this is the fact you cant transfer the recordings onto PC so its just for personal use... Bit like recording a TV show onto VHS or now recording directley to digital media.

RIAA can go blow a sheep !!!!

RIAA why do they pressure to take away the freedom's of expression what about the poor people who really cant afford to buy a cd or go to a concert in a way i understand but in away i dont, you can record legally a fm broadcast on a computer or on a tape and to be honest they cant do anything about that, more and mroe then make things ilegal more and more people will do it, and more and more profit will be lost and to be honest you can always mod a MP3 player there's many mods for them including firmware. RIAA may take away FM or AM even but they will only hurt them self as many people hear a new song on the radio and decide to go buy that cd or go buy that song or D/L it either or RIAA is hurting themself in the end. And getting consumers mroe and more PISSED OFF!!!!!!!
