Need help deciding what the best choice will be.

Thread Starter
i currently bought a new AMD mobo and while putting in my cpu i broke a pin.... figures. but i need to get a new one.
I was looking at the top rated ones on newegg's site and was thinking about getting one of those. or possibly getting intel.
To be honest. I game a bit on my comp but its not intensive. I play games such a League of Legends, and waiting for Guild Wars 2 to come out. I watch A LOT of movies from my comp as well.
Otherwise i do pretty much basic stuff.

Now the question is what would be better for me to get. I would try to send back the Mobo if Intel is decided. but im not sure i should get it because it is pricey. So should i go with AMD like like the phenom 2 x4 965 or one of the new AMD FX chips. or go with intel?? wait for ivy bridge to be released or get sandy bridge?

i appreciate your help ill input my specs right here cuz i hvnt updated my system info yet.

current new Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-970A-D3 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD
Video Card: XFX Double D HD-687A-ZDFC Radeon HD 6870 1GB
Ram: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (X2)
PSU: CORSAIR Enthusiast Series CMPSU-650TX 650W
HD: Intel SSD 120gb 320 Series (and many other HDD's)

Thank you for your help. I hope we can come to a conclusion on what would be best for my situation.

your a light gamer and you are already setup for amd. i'd go with a 965 or one of there new fx cpu's. i'm pretty sure you'll be happy either way.

Try bending the pin back into place, it should be pretty easy. There are loads of stuff on here. I suggest you look it up before you try it though

Also, for light gaming, I would have just suggested an i3. xD BUT since you already have the mobo, I would grab a 960T. Don't even look at the Deneb or FX chips. Thuban is better.

You can get a i3 and an H61 mobo for cheap if you don't want to bother with your board too thumb.gif

Ivy bride would be better. If you can get your money back on the AMD mobo, go for it. If not, just get whatever Phenom II x4 CPU. Also, what ironman said. If you didn't break the pin completely off, just try bending it back. I managed to do that to several pins on a mangled Athlon once.
