Hard drive constantly writing

Thread Starter
So recently my hard drive malfunctioned. I was in the middle of downloading something with utorrent and the blasted 100% disk overload warning came up so I quit utorrent. However, upon exiting utorrent, my hard drive still continues to make the write noise. Now, every time I plug it in it makes the writing noise!

It is still "working" as I can still read and write files to it, but it is super loud and super slow and I don't think the constant writing can be very good for my hard drive's health so I stopped using it.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? Any method is fine the warranty has been voided and I do not especially care about the data which is on it right now.

I would try booting in safe mode and trying to access it, seeing if it still tries to write. Also, you could try plugging it into a different computer entirely and see what happens.

No it still writes. It writes whenever it has power for some reason. It doesn't even need to be plugged in through SATA, only powered through the SATA power connector.

Whoa, that's beyond me. Maybe its buffer got corrupted or something, I think I read about that somewhere, like the write-cache buffer in windows needing power to shut down correctly or something. I don't know though.....What's odd for me is that you can still read and write to it even while it's doing this.

Yeah I know. But it really does slow things down. Just plugging it in and booting brings my nice <30s boot to like 2min+! I really wish there was a way to flash it better or something. That would make things easy:D
