Sorry, but no.
HD 7970 is about 7-10% slower than GTX 680 on a single monitor, and equal and sometimes faster on multi-monitor.
The $470 price point for the HD 7970 is spot on. Anything less than that, and AMD will be handing the cards out. Also, I have a feeling that Nvidia can lower the prices on the GTX 680 without losing any money, so it's in AMD's best interest to keep the prices competitive without forcing nvidia to drop their prices.
Remember, the GTX 680 was meant to be a mid-range product, so I have a feeling that the GTX 680 could drop another $100-150 without any issues at all.

The HD 7870 is pretty close to the GTX 580 in terms of performance, so you can keep dreaming about that one. That's not happening any time soon I'm afraid.Edited by Mad Pistol - 4/15/12 at 8:47pm
