That makes no sense.

I doubt all 500-1000 of these employess 'sucked' at thier jobs. I am more inclined to believe that this is EA just cutting out the bottom line.

Definitely not, if someone sucks at their job they should hit the road. I just don't understand why people think 1000 people lose their jobs at the same time lost their jobs because they weren't good at it. There is a good chance EA mismanaged its staff and hired more than they needed and just threw people at their problems rather than efficiently handing things, and then when they finally realized it they knew they now had 1000 too many employees and could let them go. So my point is merely that stuff like this often happens due to lack of a well run upper-management. Or, they're just low on funds and they're cutting jobs to cut costs.

They are great at selling games. The quality of said games is subpar. Most people just don't care enough to let that affect their purchasing decision. The sad truth of the industry as it stands right now.

It sucks for anyone to lose their job, even if they weren't good at it. It's not easy finding a job today, unless you're willing to work in a crappy job.

I will never wish for anyone to lose their job, but if the person/people who was/were responsible for making BF3 for PC a console port are on the list, I will have 0 sympathy for them. Not saying that BF3 is bad or that EA does not have the right to do everything they can to make all the money they can, I'm just a disappointed fan who thinks BF3 had the potential to be SO much better on PC (even thought I still play this game religiously whenever I can, partly due to the fact that there's no better FPS out right now IMO). I also hope EA isn't doing this to outsource jobs.

majority of a tech compaes like EA. most employees are not tech related. most of them should be accounting managers, sales managers, business development team, global/regional sales team. Depending on what the goal was for the layoff...usually it should be non-tech related employees in this kind of layoff thumb.gif

and even if it's a tech related person. Look on the bright side, you can slap EA on your resume...so many people like me can only dream of this
