I'm at work so I can't bring up any info on Almost Human, but I'm betting they're a smaller shop and Grimrock probably spent a relatively short amount of time in the oven.
It's a hell of a lot easier to turn a profit on something with a small overhead, vs. something with a large one.

This

I do not mean to be a debbie downer but this game was probably made on a very small budget so it did not need a large amount of sales to cover its costs anyways. Its the same thing with alan wake, all the major costs of the game were probably absorbed by the xbox development and sales while the only costs allocated to the pc version was the porting. Im sure EA, Ubisoft, Valve, Activsion and everyone else who releases drm filled games or lack pc centric features turn a profit on their pc sales as well probably much more than the devs of LOG but the pc sales are probably nothing to console sales and thats why these games are made with consoles in mind or have drm.

You cannot compare a small indie developer to large worldwide public company such as EA or Ubisoft. They have much higher overhead costs and expect a much larger sales and profit margin. Unless all people want from PC gaming is indie games and 2 year old port jobs this should not be heralded as an achievement in PC gaming.

Im happy these guys made a profit.

I disagree completely. When you look at the amount of work that goes into creating AAA games, nothing tops a top-tier developer.

If by love you mean quirky glitches that ship with indie games because they lack the resources to iron out all of the bugs, and said bugs become apart of the lore of the game, then perhaps you're right.

To me, polish is love, and no one beats studios like Bungie(Halo series) when it comes to polish or design.

I buy from GoG.com, Amazon downloads or the like. Where I can download the installation files to my backup drive and run it from there. I prefer physical game copies but most companies are limiting installs from the disk now.

I do care, I don't want 10 accounts on websites/services just to play my games. I don't want to have to keep track of all the different user names and passwords just to install and play games I purchased. The people who pirate games don't have to worry about it at all, so why should I, as a paying customer, have to?

Your point is 100% invalid due to this one sentence. If you had given steam a good try, you'd realize how foolish that sounds.

On topic: It's great that indie devs are starting to get the spotlight more often thumbsupsmiley.png It just means more great games for us

Indie games aren't necessarily any less polished, they're usually just simpler (in terms of art assets), sometimes have less content, or less design-created content, less story, etc.

I play indie games all teh time now because they're the only ones that ARE polished up AND are innovating. I'm sorry but even Hard Reset was better than any FPS that's been released in the last decade.

I do not see how is point is invalid just because steam may have been good for you doesn't mean countless of other people have not had problems with it. In this regard it is no different than origin, gfwl etc due to the problems it creates compared to non drm games. However buying a game he has never heard of and knows nothing about just because it doesn't have drm just sounds bogus.

Heh,

I helped.
Surprisingly fun, I've just beat the 1st level. For 10 dollars or so, it's already given me my fun for the buck.

Guys, its a great game. It really is something different in a sea of games mimicking each other. Instead of infecting one of the few threads about this great indie title with your drm talk or whatever else why not talk about the actual game?

Bethesda says hi.
Bioware blushes.
Troika shrugs.

Iron out all the bugs? You make me laugh so. Not even your Bungie is immune. While a game can be judged by its bugs, this shouldn't be the case in any but the most egregious offenders, and I've never played a non-beta indie game that was anywhere near as broken as some AAA games(that got high marks and awards regardless).

Oh sod off troll. Unlike you, I decide my budget on games, I work for my money and I spend it how I want. I support developers who show love to the PC gaming community regardless of what it is. One more sale in their pocket when they do good is exactly what I'm going to do.

Amazing you trolls always cry to "SCREW THEM BY NOT BUYING IT" but when it comes down to actually supporting them, you're probably the first seeder on a torrent because you can't afford your game and will never end up buying it.

I support my developers when they do good, if that means I have to re-arrange my budget to do so, I will. Carelessly spending my money? You must be some piss ant living in moms basement working at McDonald's mad at the world because the rest of us who actually pushed ourselves to get better jobs than flipping burgers.

While you're at it, I want my fries extra cripsy.
