7970s still suffer the '3rd screen tear' in eyefinity?

post #1 of 11

Hey guys. So still one of my 6950s, sold one and selling this one in 2 and a half months to get either a 680 or 7970 and watercool it.

Just wondering if the 7970s suffer the 3rd screen tearing? If you have eyefinity you know exactly what i'm on about haha.

Cheers lads!

If your monitor has no native DisplayPort then use the correct one will get rid of ST/Flickering. Or find out apps running in the background that interferes with the clocks.

Too many things can cause ST, but here for your research;

Thanks for the response! I'm not sure what you mean by 'use the correct one' - what are you referring to? If you mean adapter I am, other than that not sure what you mean. I know what the issue is, as it's nearly in every similar setup last I read.

My 7970's running bf3 smooth as , TBH I ran eyefinity on my 5870 and even it didnt give me any tear issues running bf3, mind you that was on low settings.

Its not like usual screen tearing. Its a specific line on one of the monitors where the picture tears. Not the old randomly tearing business.

It is a fixed line that no matter what is happening, will always tear at that point.

Awesome, thanks mate. Also, I never found out, was it solely because of the DP adapter? Or was it the combo of hdmi + dvi + dp?
post #10 of 11
Its because DP has a differant clockrate to DVI(HDmi is just dvi with sound)
