If I'm going multiple cards or a dual-gpu setup, I'm never going with AMD, the experience was just that bad.

Same horrible experience with my 4870x2, to be fair it worked fine most on the time for the first year and a half, but since then all drivers have broken Crossfire in some way or another. I'm waiting to have the fund for a 680, no more ATI GPU for me, at least not for a while, and definitely no Crossfire configuration ever.

Hey guys, so 2 days back i was reporting on a "red screen of death" issue with my GTX 680? I've finally resolved it. After i did a clean reformat, i manage to trace down the culprit to a software called SoftOSD, it came with the Dell U2312HM monitor. Disabled it from running in msconfig under "Services" tab, then so far no more red screen. If the red screen hinders you from doing anything, you can disable it via the method above from Safe Mode. Hope this info helps for those early adopters of GTX 680 that is facing this issue.

Exactly. I've had this happen only once. Just don't use programs that seem to cause it until they're updated, in my case that was GPU-Z.

Successful launch compared to the 7000 launch? That would imply that the 7000 series launch wasn't successful which is the exact opposite of what actually happened. I know at least 20 people with 7970's and not one of them have had a single problem. I don't give a rats ass who I buy my video card from as long as it works and AMD had the upper hand with the 7970 and imo is still even with the 680, even though everyone will claim the 680 blows the 7970 away. The only reason the 680 beats the 7970 in any benchmark is because AMD was very conservative with their stock clock. Equally clocked between the two and they're pretty much even.

I actually sympathize with anyone who gets a "RSoD".

Back when I had a 5870, ever since day 1 I would get random grey screen of death.

It could have happened 5 minutes into a non-intensive game or 10 hours into a demanding game.

I think that was a hardware issue, because no amount of drivers from AMD actually managed to fix it 100%.

So you can thank your graces that at least this red screen is not a hardware issue.

Red screen of death? Hardly. They even explain that your computer still works perfectly normal under the red screen. Its not locking up or overheating. Way to be overdramatic. Lol.
