Not only that the Iphone in particular is an extremely impressive piece of hardware. It offends me when people say that WP7 isn't as successful because people are brainwashed by Apple marketing. Microsoft brings in 20 billion profit every year. They are not some little startup with a great product that is gettting crushed by large corporations. Apple simply has a superior product all around.

But there you just did it yourself. Blanket statements are red flags. To say Windows Phone 7 doesn't do anything better than an iPhone is just as brainwashed. Here is one thing: Windows Phone 7 allows for different handsets. You want a hardware keyboard? Sure. Bigger screen? Sure. They have found a great compromise between Android's 'do whatever you want with our OS' and Apple's 'you get any device you want as long as it is an iPhone'. Windows Phone 7 allows manufacturers to make changes to the dimensions and some features while mandating key specs so the experience is standardized across the devices.
I agree with you that WP7 is not being held back solely by loyalty to other companies (though to deny it is a factor is ignorant) but you seem to be making the same sorts of mental judgements you are speaking against.

Yes it does seem like a pain, but they all run differently? Yes? Like Mac computers and PC that share the same programs have different versions for each OS. Probably just a way for the creator of the app to suck a bit more money out of people too
