I'd love to be a fly in the wall at Microsoft for these discussions because it must irk them to no end. They were late to the party on phones and super late to the party with tablets and it's cost them dearly. Now they are leveraging their entire desktop business on the hope of breaking through and it will probabally end up another huge mistake. The company has been mismanaged for the last ten years.
Don't know if you guys saw it but after four years of profitabilty MS's entertainment division starting losing money last quarter again. We know that the Xbox project has become pretty profitable and the only other real product in that division is phones. Pretty sad state of affairs for them right now. The only reason they are still so massively profitable is their stranglehold grip on the same markets they've had for twenty years now. New blood at the top is desperately needed IMO.
Your right, Microsoft has been an epic failure the last 10 years. I mean, Windows XP--- trash, Windows 7--- trash, XBox and Xbox 360--- trash, Windows Server 2003 & 2008--- junk....
But seriously, a lot of techies have been hating on Windows 8, and I didn't love it at first, but for the average user, imop, it could do really well. It's a fresh new look, and pretty much makes things 'idiot proof' for the average user.Edited by whitingnick - 4/25/12 at 12:12pm
