Just to add to that, its wasnt $400 + mil, it was 400 + mil licenses.

things like (not actually skype)

my point is, most MS software is clunky, limited and you require extra outlay for after market applications

with regards to playing catch up, i said this because i believe the opposition is going to be passing MS soon at some pace, the introduction of metro on windows 8 shows MS are aware of new market trends and are trying to emulate them.. badly

I agree, I-phones are overrated and Android should take over the cell phone business.

Wow, that's a blanket statement if I ever saw one.

Clearly you've never used MS Office. There's a reason it's the benchmark and nothing can hold a candle to it in the business world.

Really simple for me. Great or not great, I don't want to buy all my hundreds of apps all over again for a new phone.

That^ is exactly why Google started the Android platform...  so they could sell you non-tangable products and lock you into their ecosystem.

The youth today own nothing, they don't even own albums anymore, they just have the low bit rate DRM MP3's..  they don't own any of it, their lives are controlled by data libraries.. selling & telling you when & where you can use your own products. (Stream, iTunes, Cloud, etc)

If you had them on your computer (Windows 7) and the apps you bought were real (& not throw away $0.99 ones), then you'd be able to move them to & from your main OS to your phone. Instead, you are forever locked into pathetic Android devices because you don't want to give up $60 in apps...(?)  the same mentality that Google was banking on when they build their Android ecosystem.   <---

Same thing that all you kids fell for, when buying all your iTunes w/drm...      So...  before kids got cheap, they use to BUY their albums, which coincidentally I still have it and can make copies of all of them, or copy it to any one of my devices (Phone, Car, home System, etc...)

So, did you not understand that everything you bought thru the Android Market, was only  for people getting sucked into a marketing Fad...?

YOUR OWN COMMENTS SUGGEST... that Google has a sucker 4 life, because your unable to leave them....

*Massive facepalm*

ALL mobile platforms lock you into their app ecosystem; there's no app interoperability between iOS, Android and WP7! Try getting the very same app - say, Dead Space - that you purchased from the App Store and run it on an Android or WP7 device.

Just do it, I dare you.

What's with you about DRM and low bitrate MP3's? If anything, Google Play allows someone to download their purchased music to their computer via their desktop client, DRM-free and up to 320kbps MP3. I surely would have loved if many music portals use lossless files such as FLAC, but it's not economical due to the file size and many people do not recognize the format at all. In fact, iOS is much more restrictive in terms of audio/video formats because of the limitations imposed on Apple devices; they won't be able to natively play things such as AVI, OGG and MKV without passing through iTunes for file conversion. Android is much more accommodating in this regard - most Android devices can play even the most unknown codecs and containers simply because the OS can support them.

And that bit about Android apps not running on PC; oh boy, how wrong you are. Have you ever heard of BlueStacks? It does exactly what it says; it is a desktop program that can run Android-native apps. Also, some Linux builds such as Canonical's Ubuntu for Android can run Android apps. So... yeah.

lulz...

You treat phones as if their computers and make a hobby out of fiddling with them. Then there are some who actually use their phones to conduct their daily lives. These people have money and don't need to purchase fiddlesticks, but all-in-one devices that work within THEIR ECOSYSTEM...

Ice cream Sandwich does not compare to Windows 8...    u are a retard if you think so!

edit:

I have re-edited because I am not calling anyone a retard, UNLESS they believe such thigs.  (<---There is a qualifyer there called "if"...   Mr Mod)

Or you could get a cheap basic phone for as little as ... idk... 20$, and buy a tablet PC, which case you have a much larger screen and (almost?) as much functions. smile.gif

I like having to only carry around 1 thing in my pocket, and have it do everything I want from wherever I want.
Like for example : I can't browse the internet very great with my BlackBerry, or receive picture messages, play games, etc...
