Overvolting helps the OC, but in this case your were overvolting the wrong thing (the PCI-E slot vs the GPU core). In order to do the 7800GT Vmod you will need a floppy disk drive. Basically you will put the new bios on a floppy disk, and boot the computer from the floppy. The floppy will flash the bios of the card, replacing the old bios with a new one that uses an increased amount of voltage to the GPU. You can probably find the bios online.

It would if temperature was your limiting factor, however, I would imagine voltage is currently what is limiting your OC. In that case water cooling will not allow you to overclock anymore than air.

damn, but will the water cooling help after i volt mod, and i think it might be, correct me if i am wrong (im not intending this to offend u in any way) but if i go even 1 more mhz on the core i get artifacts, arent artifacts caused by 2 much heat? and if i turn the over volt off the pci-e do u think my cards will cool down a little

Assuming after the volt mod high temps become a limiting factor then sure. Having the extra cooling will allow you to achieve a higher clock, with less risk of damaging the parts due to extended use at high temperatures.

Since its a bios mod I think it only allows you to go up .1 mv on the core, but I really dont know, I have never done this mod, as i got rid of my 7800 before I was aware of a volt mod. Maybe someone else that has done it can help you.
