Which BIOS settings could be negatively affecting my Graphics card?

*I have changed the title of this thread and the content of this first post, so the first couple pages of replies may appear to not make sense!

Just wondering if anyone knows of any BIOS settings (Motherboard) that may be affecting the performance of the graphics card? Mine is under-performing a little on this board for some reason. Thanks smile.gif

Run each fft for 10 minutes to check them all in 12 hours. You may have missed some. Or start with prime, and use games as a stability test too. I consider my CPU stable when everything I do, from compiling, to light gaming, to password cracking (It's legal in my case, and hardware intensive is the only reason I bring it up) then I call it stable. Everyone has a different definition of stable. The "best way to stay stable is to not overclock, but that's slow and no fun.

IBT & Linx are pretty much the same, I usually do 25 runs but some do 50 or more. Run Prime 26.6 10 min FFT using 90% of memory for atleast 12 hours. Chances are if you pass all that you are pretty stable.

Make sure you have not disabled the page file. Some games like a page file. Too small a page file and CODWAW crashes on me.

cheers guys. i dont think i could handle changing the settings for prime95 every 10 minutes for 12 hours. infact i know i couldn't lol :/ i know some people like to run prime for 24 hours so maybe i should... i upped the core voltage offset by 0.005v after that portal 2 crash and haven't actually tried playing it or bf3 again yet @4.5ghz. im thinking that i should do that soon and see what happens! might've sorted the framerate issue with bf3 smile.gif

See if your CPU runs fine when at stock. If it does and you are passing test just fine when OC'd then you might have a RAM or GPU issue.

i actually had a thread going a few weeks back that was partly about the page file. a lot of people were saying not to use it and some saying to reduce it to something like 2-4gb i think. i was pretty sure that it was still necessary from what i'd read about it so instead of setting mine at 1.5 x the amount of ram i have i just set it to 5gb.

well i haven't actually ran a stress test at stock speeds as far as i remember but im more inclined to think it's a cpu issue as i've noticed my framerate isn't as good when it's overclocked even though it passes the stress test. maybe i should try running it a 4.4 or 4.6ghz. i've seen people saying before that sometimes cpu's don't like certain clock speeds for some reason.

You don't need to change it every 10 minutes. Run a custom blend, and change the 10 to 15 lol. That should run them all in 12 hours. You could run for 5 minutes each and it should test them all twice just to be sure in the same 12 hour span.

ah i dont think i get what you guys are on about lol. ive basically only done blend tests with prime. though i was told to do 1344 fft min/max for 25 mins and 1792 fft min/max for 25 mins initially when overclocking. then when i pass those to go for the long blend tests. could you maybe give me a rundown of what all the settings should be and i'll give it a go tomorrow night? thanks smile.gif
