2x 4Gb Kingston HyperX Red Limited Edition and I5 2500k

Thread Starter
I keep getting conflicting answers on what to do. I bought this kit a while ago and was going to buy my CPU any day not. Originally I was going to go FX8120 Bulldozer but now have switched to i5 2500k. I am told that the ram I have will burn out the cpu and I have to get another one, but this site says differently. I am confused now and wonder if I should just try and sell it and buy a new kit or what.

Thanks,
Ryan

If the ram is 1.65v it has a slight possibility of burning out the IMC, but I don't think there are any recorded cases. that ram and a SB processor will be fine, if anything you might be able to underclock/undervolt the ram if you really feel that you need too

Thank you very much for your quick response. I was really worried from what people were telling me, I was hoping I didn't waste money.

Thanks again

your welcome biggrin.gif. You'll be fine, my kit is running @ 1.65v using the XMP profile with no issues 3 months later, and I suspect I'll have none anytime soon biggrin.gif.

Just to give you a bit more reassurance, I have been running HyperX 1.65v 2133 DDR 3 ram on a SB i7 for the better part of a year (minus a little RMA time for a watercooling res) and my CPU is great.
