Well, I get into a lot of fights with my brothers and once my brother got really mad at me and threatened me by saying "I'm going to break your computer!"
As he was running into my room I took the 1/8" jack that was right next to me and threw it at him as he was near my door to my room. Well, I missed and the jack flew right into the monitor instead. At first before turning it on I looked for scratches and there weren't any. I was relieved but when I turned it on...well you know the rest.

Well I don't think that's necessarily true with the tempered glass Shimians. Since everybody who got the tempered glass Shimian had something underneath even as small as dust, I found a lot of people asking how to take this model apart. Also a lot of these monitors arrive with internal cables disconnected so this would save some time if the person isn't willing to return it.

With monitors from companies like ASUS I agree with you, however I think these Korean ones are an exception.

Well, again, my first ShiMian's glass will absolutely not budge. My second doesn't really have any noticeable dust to bother with removing the glass, but the glass comes off in places on its own (namely along the bottom center), so I believe this method could be useful there. If the glass is well-attached along the entire perimeter, I believe this method might be dangerous, because I pulled about as hard as I was comfortable with before deciding it was possibly going to crack if I tried harder. I think the double-sided tape used for these monitors can be quite strong.

Did you ever go ahead and use the 3M Dual Lock adhesives to replace the double sided adhesive that is used on the Shimians?

Unfortunately the monitor was unintentionally destroyed before the 3M Dual Lock arrived however now that I look at the tape is seems extremely thick and I think it will be unappealing to have the glass so far from the panel itself.


More info about how my Shimian broke here.

yeah I'm pretty pissed about what happened however not that these monitors are going under $300 in price I might grab another Shimian.
