That will never happen. Apple's mistake here is not updating Java quickly enough, which I expect they'll make sure not to do again. In the next OS X release, Apple is introducing Gate Keeper, which will be one of their solutions to protect users from... themselves.

That sounds more destructive than productive. Either way a Mac will always be the last option I would choose. PC all the way!

Only thing I've heard Macs are good for are video and photo editing.

Off topic, but just had to do it..

I don't get this. How is Libre better? Have you used Microsoft Office? Have you seen its amazing integration capabilities with other Microsoft application (eg Sharepoint) that make it almost perfect for the business world? Or its incredibly diverse range of products? It's not just Word, Powerpoint and Excel; you have OneNote, Publisher, InfoPath, Access, Visio, Outlook. All in the one place. All having the same control panel layouts and options menus (for ease of use).

I'm all for open source, but sometimes the advocates really need to know what they're saying. Libre Office is in no way better than Microsoft Office. Apart from it being free.

sounds like something that Apple users would have said about getting viruses/malware.

Either way the biggest mistake Apple and their users can make is to assume that some one-off solution will solve all their problems and they'll be protected from the evils of the internet once again forever. It's a neverending fight...ask microsoft.

Gatekeeper seems to use a certificate based system that encourages only to download and install through Apple Store. We shall see what happens.

PC's can do video and photo editing well too. It just comes down to how comfortable you are with each environment.

This hasn't held true for over a decade.

Umm java is not part of Apple FYI, they are owned by oracle. But it would be Java's fault for not having auto update on. And if they lock the OS like they do the Iphone I would have to bet you cant get a updated version of java automatically unless its Apple approved lol. That is just an assumption tho so Im probably more wrong then right haha.

Either way its not Apples fault for people not updating the java client to the latest. Its more of Oracle if they dont have a auto updater made for Mac OS, and if it does why in the hell is there this issue then?

And I find it quite funny they are using office to spread a Mac Trojan since the author is probably assuming if they have a windows pc they will have a Mac and if so BAM its in there once you hook that thumb drive in lol.

Apple runs Java for OSX.
Oracle does on Windows & Linux.

It's Apples fault.
