800D External Rad Fan Wires Routing Help

Thread Starter
Hi there I'm just putting together my first water cooling build and have a rx480 external rad on my corsair 800D but I don't know how to route the fan wires to the fan controller as there is no hole in the case to do so. Can you guys please recommend me some ideas or tell me what your have done if you have a similar setup. Thanks

Pardon me, but why external? You have a 800D...! It's made for slapping a buncha rads inside of it.

Didn't want to modify case I have a RX360 + RX480 External. If anybody could help me with my original question that would be great.

I see.

You can run your wires thru an empty slot, even drill holes thru a slot cover for a more finished look and put your wires in a loom, etc

Another potential option is leaving the supplied motherboard "bracket" (contains holes for USB, audio, etc) off and routing cables through the upper portion of that opening, possibly simply cutting a portion off. There really are a lot of options for cable routing going from outside the case to inside.

It's basically tubing to cover and manage cables.

You don't want to run the wires through one of the watercooling holes at the back? Just get some really long extensions for the external rad fans or find a way to daisy chain them and run one long extension next to one of the tubes. Even with 3/4 OD tubing, you should be able to get one 3pin cable in.
