[Work Log] ящик (Box) - mITX + Russian military theme - Page 9

The CPU meter looks awesome, good job! You could trying running Prime95 on a few threads at a time to see how it scales to CPU usage - e.g. does 80% CPU correspond to 80% of the gauge.

Sorry to hear about the fingers, I've been there before!

I was cutting some 2x4 on a chopsaw a while ago when the blade caught a knot, picked up the wood and threw it into the blade guard. Sadly a couple of my fingers ended up between the wood and the metal - lost two nails from that.

Hope they heal quickly. Take care of your hands, you only get one set!

Thanks for the kind words everyone. My fingers are feeling much better today!

A quick update:

Got my temp and glow kit today
450

Looks like a lot of soldering
450

It took me longer then I expected, but I finished it.
450

Sadly I ran out of solder, so I didn't get to hook up the Nixie Tubes and try it out. =(

Also I tested the CPU Meter some more. It seems that the meter scaled slightly wrong, so I had to do some tweeking to the arduino code to get the marks to line up.

I LOVE this project... best SFF build I've seen for long time

Awesome, Private Message me before next time you order from Mnpctech. I'll include a freebie of something thumb.gif

Sweeet!!! Will do! There will always be a next time...

My fingers are still pretty messed up, so I decided this weekend will be electronics weekend! Also I finally got some of the few remaining parts in.

I've been waiting weeks for this to come in.
450

Also I found somewhere to get the spherical dark grey keycaps I need
450

Just look at those awesome double-shot caps...
450

They are a bit taller then the standard cherry set and they are not angled, which is what I wanted.
450

Sadly the mounting is a bit different.
450

But they are nearly exactly the same dimensions
450

Here's a comparison of the original caps, my modification and what it originally looked like.
450

Wow that looks great!
450

However there were some casualties...
450

OK enough keyboard porn, On to the electronics!

Picking up were we left off last week, I needed to get the nixie tubes hooked up to the temp and glow circuit. I ran out of solder, so I went to the local electronics shop. After a little time in Altex I decided I want all the various circuits to go inside a project box and I want that box to have D sub connectors that go to the various components. Why? I like a clean case.

So I grabbed a bunch of D subs, some solder and a project box that looked about the right size and got to work!

The first plug is half done.
450

The connection has been successful.
450

Wow. These tubes are just stunning. The picture doesn't do em justice. It's almost like building your own lightsaber; only real.
450

Now for the keypad. Well, at least part of it.
450

And it's D Sub
450

Tune in next time for the exciting conclusion! (I ran out of project time...)

dayum, I'm impressed. When I hurt my finger like that, my whole hand was in a cast, which is a lot more useless than how yours is, lol

im loving this so far!

Just an idea...have a key and a lock in order to turn on your computer, just like a car. that would add a nice touch.
