ASUS P8Z77-V mobo overclocking help

Good morning/.night all..

I recently bought a new asus P8Z77-V board with an intel 2500k working with 16GB of Corsair DDR3 1600 ram.

I am new to overclocking so i used the asus Turbo Evo auto tuning option and it got me to run a stable 4.53GHZ.

But my processor speed keeps changing from 4.53GHz to 1.67 GHZ depending on if the system has load on it or not.

Can anyone suggest what i am doing wrong ?

The rest of my parts are as follows:
600Watt cooler master psu
7870 asus gpu
h100 water sealed cooler

120GB SSD Intel 520
windows 7 pro x64.

I am at a lost on why the speeds keep changing between the 2.

At IDLE state Procesor downclocks itself in order to save energy and to keep its temperature down (along with temperature of VRMs on the board)..

Every SB processor does it so don't worry..

But if you want to have your processor running @ full speed (in your case 4.5GHz) all the time then:

DISABLE C1E and SpeedStep technology in the BIOS..
DISABLE Turbo and set manually your CPU multiplier to 45 x (100MHz BCLK) or @ 44x (103MHz BCLK)..

P.S.: But since you're using TurboV switch then don't change anything in the BIOS as you could mess up your AUTO overclock settings..

CHEERS..
