*My New Gaming Station Build Log*

Thread Starter
I like how my room is setup now, even my desk. But soon I will be upgrading to three monitors biggrin.gif and to do so means I will need more space for two additional 24" monitors.

Here's my current setup, which doesn't have enough space for my schoolwork and three monitors at once:
450

So what I need is a BIGGER DESK! And what better way to get a brand new desk than to make it yourself with everything you want!

Here's a list of all the things that I want to do during the log:
- Design and build a custom computer desk, and make it BIG!
- Allow room for a nice TV, maybe between 40-48" max, for consoles and such
- Leave space for friends to game at as well.
- Add shelving for computer parts, collectible stuff, and everything else
- Try to get LED becklights again like my current setup
- Keep the room open and welcoming
- DON'T QUIT! I will motivate myself to work on this at least every weekend until I'm satisfied with the results. I might start a new thread when I set up my three monitors when I get them in the next few months.

I'll add more if I see a comment that sparks my imagination, or if I want to STEAL your idea! wink.gif

I also have a few surprises for my build along the way if I can get to or afford them tongue.gif

PS - This is my first ever build log, so help me out and post nice things and be good to each other! smile.gif

*THE BUILD*

I started by designing my desk to fit my room with the following features:
- Computer stand able to fit even a Cosmos 2
- Large open corner area easily able to fit any reasonable triple monitor setup
- Night stand area for me to put my keys, phone, papers, etc. as well as an extra spot for a laptop for a friend if my room gets REALLY crowded
- Open work space for homework, friends to game on, as well as consoles.
- Very capable cable management around the back
- Modular design for whenever I move
- Simple design so I don't overextend myself, only one challenging cut for the corner section

Sketch-Up makes this look a lot smaller than it is rolleyes.gif
Also note this is not everything in my room, just the stuff on the far sides.

I will keep you all updated!

Alright I started on my desk today, sorry if the photos are not very ideal, they were taken from my phone rolleyes.gif

So I started with a 4x8 sheet of 3/4" birch plywood and cut it into two 4x4's, then I started cutting out the corner section to get it out of the way.

Last thing I did today was taking the excess and cutting some supports

Day 1 of build log... complete. Didn't want to do too much today since I had to go out for the wood and handle all the big pieces. It should go a little faster when I get the wood cut to a manageable size.

Hardest cut is out of the way, now the hardest part will be fitting everything and painting... rolleyes.gif

Looks nice! I like that you're making a little place for your rig to hang out. Keep it up.
