up until? you don't need to. it turbo boost to 3.4GHz. OC after you get a better cooler.

XD might read this thread and he is not gonna like it me recommending oc'ing with that gigabyte. try looking for a better mobo. not every chip/mobo will behave the same.

I've never had a problem OCing with any gigabyte or asus boards.... just some biostar, and other lower boards, i dont plan to Oc to a millionGHZ, just a little bump (probably no more than 500 or 600mhz)

usable with the type of cooler i have . . . 4.4GHz. oddly enough, the same with unlocked. not prime of course but the games i play do not crash.

i only primed mine at 4GHz unlocked for approx 12 hrs. over that - prime can kiss my arse.

I think I've made my mind.
CPU: Phenom II 960T 3ghz (Going to attempt to unlock it)
MOBO: Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2P AM3+
RAM: 4gb DDR3 (going to OC as well)
Case: ThermalTake V3 BE, or BitFenix Merc Alpha (help me decide?)
PSU: Antec EarthWatts 750
HDD: 2x 500gb Sata
OPT: DVD Burner
GPU: Gigabyte AMD Radeon HD 6770 1gb (obviously OCing lol)
DISPLAY: Acer 21.5in LCD
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (already owned)

What is your budget? overall, the build looks solid, PSU is super overkill, but it is a solid build. I personally am not a fan of a 6770 in a gaming machine, not enough power IMO. if you can, grab only 1 HDD and a lesser PSU and replace it with 8GB of DDR3 and a better GPU.

I got the PSU for upgrade purposes, 8gb ram will also be for upgrade, gpu should be enough, i dont plan on playing at ultra settings or super high resolutions, it hurts my eyes lol.
I've got the hard drives, traded the 4x 250s for 2x 500gbs

it will run ok, most of the current games will be needed to be played at low-medium settings. My roommate has a 5770 (identical performance)
