With your current setup, it will not be worth it. Might run a bit sluggish. If you upgrade though, then definitely......just wait a month or two for them to patch the major holes.

Vista won't be out till next year...

But for you it would be ok. Mind you, that XP can play DX10 games supposedly DX9L and that you porbably need 2gb+ of ram to do any hardcore stuff effectively.

That just turned out to be wrong, its in the news section, I think I already saw that you posted there though.

Take a look at Linux, Its run fast on older machines. And you can try it without installing anything via LiveCDs.

You an't just "get Vista"...it's not available yet. The Beta 2, RC1 and RC2 that are out are test versions and will expire and cease to work.

i dont really think its really worth getting vista currently since there is currently not much windows xp can't do that you require furthermore you should also not to forget the resource hog its going to cause.

I posted there after here

And I think Vista is still gonna be viable because for me, it looks 100x better than XP.

1. "CPU: Threading is the main target for Vista. Currently, very little of Windows XP is threaded - the target is to make Vista perform far better on dual-core and multi-core processors." Makes it look bad for us Single core guys. =p

2. You will not get an overall performance, vista at first will be 11% slower (or somewhere around there..) than XP right now.

3. DX9 is NOT backwards capatable with DX10, forced upgrade.

4. 1cd, 1 Install per system.

VISAT DOES NOT NEED 64-bit!! It runs fine on my P4 Northwood...where do you get this info from? Number of games on Vista wiill be limited? It can still play all of the DX9 games...
