The main problem with it is the kind of hive mind they've cultivated over the last 5 years or so. Still the nice thing about it is it almost doubles as a video game news site since so much stuff is posted there.

Yeah true, I remember browsing NeoGAF in earlier times and it wasn't nearly as bad as it was now. I don't know how it went from the great gaming community it was to.. The GAF.

But yeah there is a ton of news there which is nice, but if I check out what the community has to say about something, it's a whole different story.
There needs to be another large gaming centric forum with lots of industry attention on it.

I think we're getting slightly off topic now. So we should probably stop before we anger the mods.

Yeah back to Halo but I will say your 4chan of the gaming community comment sadly was pretty spot on.

A pretty easy way to see that it's not the forum it was is that all those devs that used to post there don't really anymore. Oh well.

I've never understood the Halo-hate. In a period of 6 years they've put out 3 new IPs (Including Halo 4), an expansion and a remake of the original. That's also on multiple engines (Halo 3, Reach, Reach 2.0). Compared to COD Halo is in no way milked.

Personally I've just found it an extremely polished and FUN (people forget about this) franchise that has always delivered. Nothing beats having 4 X360s setup in one room for 16 player MP Halo with all of your friends.

EDIT: The only other games that can compare are GoW 2 (hoard mode), CS: Source, Red Faction: Guerilla and 007 nightfire.

I miss being able to see information from a reliable source. So many gaming news articles now a days are just rumors and speculation.

This. I do this at least once a month. Get a bunch of friends and take your Xboxes to someone's house and have a huge Halo night. Can't beat it.

Don't forget to include that one of those Halo games was a remake and one was a RTS.

Halo is like the polar opposite of a miled franchise. There have only been four true Halo games since 2001 and one expansion pack.
