@Eagle
I agree, I also never had issues with GFWL stopping me from playing my games, I have a bunch of GFWL games too. I always back up my game saves any way since I format alot.But even then I haven't lost a save due to GFWL deleting it.

@Drsmoke
just because you or some other people hate GFWL you don't go and assume every one else does then state its a fact when it isn't and is nothing but a opinion.

That be like going "Every one hate Pizza and then go its a fact and not a opinion" I know not a good one but you should get the point.

@Thread
Now Steam has stopped me from playing my games but I don't go postal I just know problems can happen but not to every one as nothing perfect. Also what annoy me the most is when some one decide to speak for you acting like you agree with them. I don't hate GFWL or Steam.

You can't make a game so hard that people just get frustrated and give up before beating the first level. You need to give them a chance to learn how to play first. A game being too much harder then Demons Souls would actually be a bad thing.

My point was more that the fact he thinks soul arrow is op shows he didnt complete the game. Ya soul ray is ok but pretty much only if youre a pure magic class with all the magic enhancing items. And even then its not going to be too effective, cursed weapons seem like the way to go against bosses in demons
souls. Magic is way overpowered in dark souls against the final boss though. Chsm destroys him.

I kind of wish theyd take magic out of the game since the depth is in weapon based combat but its mostly useless in pvp (faith though-i really wish theyd make that more useless in pvp). Beyond the weapon enchants that is

?

I rolled a Night and use a focus I found and used Soul Arrow to beat bosses up to the third area with no real effort. So yes, it is pretty easy.

Pure bollocks, Steam has never had issues before!
Like it's been said (Not this quote mind you,) 'It comes down to personal opinion and what experience they've gone through.' It will be annoying (at least for me) when or if Dark Souls releases on PC and is available both through Steam and GFWL, simply because I have two games that use GFWL and I haven't played either in more than a year now. I won't be signing the petition for the game to go from GFWL to Steam simply because it's not that big of a deal (again, at least for me,) but I would sign/complain if the game is locked-down at 30fps, stuck at native 720p resolution, and doesn't have some basic graphical settings to change (Even if the max PC-version settings are exactly what the PS3/Xbox 360 looks like.) Hopefully they aren't going to cap the framerate if it doesn't have a huge impact on gameplay itself, and it scales appropriately to different resolutions (Hell, even 800x600 unlike some newer PC-games only supporting a lowest-resolution of 1280x720.)

What does steam even have to do with anything? They're thinking of using GFWL for it's DRM on save games and to use their matchmaking, not the distribution system.

Reading some of these posts makes me wonder if ya'll are this ungrateful in real life. PC gamers will find SOMETHING to gripe about, no matter what game it is.

I've played both Demon's and Dark Souls, and I'd say that God of War III on Titan mode is harder. Of course God of War III is a plebeian console game so who would even bother to tr... oh wait, Demon's/Dark Souls are console games too! Wow.. I guess the moral of this entire thread is that console games aren't always inferior thumb.gifbiggrin.gifthumb.gif

That's because once again, the internet is full of sheep that have somehow managed to weild pitchforks and have grasped just enough of the English languange to scream "rabble rabble rabble" at the top of their lungs because apparently everything you read on the internet is true.
Here is why people should try using their brains, instead of letting media outlets use their brains to get hits on their websites and get paid:
Quote:
It's not locked at 720p. The art assets aren't being redone thats all. Since its using GFWL (bleh) it HAS to have all common resolution settings. This is all thanks to mistranslation.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/ee417691(v=vs.85).aspx#_1.5
The game will HAVE to have:

1.5 Support Multiple Aspect Ratios and Resolutions
Requirement

The game must support at least the following aspect ratios and associated screen resolutions:
4:3 normal (800*600 or 1024*768)
16:9 widescreen (1280*720)
16:10 widescreen (1152*720 or 1680*1050 or 800*480)
C'mon people, there's standards these days. And do you really think From Software is that insane? Likely Namco will also enforce 1920x1080 resolution options as well.

Stop feeding into hyped up auto-translated mixed messages.
also, as I have alluded to many times in this thread:
Quote:
At the moment everyone seems to be getting worked up over what is essentially one line of text, translated from Japanese. Until we get more info we really shouldn't be getting this worked up. They've seen all this feedback about the graphics options yet we may be complaining about a problem that doesn't exist.

Now that we've aired our concerns we should wait for an official word on the matter before blowing up into mass hysteria. IF it turns out that they've locked the FPS and its using GFWL, and the keyboard controls are awful THEN let's get the pitchforks. For now, let's see what the next announcement brings us.
For one, we do know:

a)It's gonna have more than one resolution setting, because their first choice of platform (GFWL) requires them to and that's probably one of the first things they did before making more content in the porting process.

b)It's gonna have keyboard and mouse controls, they've said "minimal" keyboard controls so we don't know the extent but again, its all translated from japanese so context could be lost.

c)I'd say neither them, nor Namco are complete morons, I stand to be corrected by them, and will join the pitch fork mob if it comes to fruition they've made some sort of botched monstrosity of a product, but until that time I'm gonna wait for more info.
Logic + Interest in knowing the facts >>>>>> "Rabble rabble rabble".

Those resolution options are terrible. Better be 1920 x 1200 available and whatnot.

I feel really bad if being able to time dodges is considered being skilled. I'm sorry, Demon Souls was not hard. I beat the Dragon Boss and quit because the game had just become to easy. I went to the next area and progressed abit, before my character glitched into the ground, couldn't move, and I died. I just kind of lost interest there, because everything was so easy.

I don't consider being able to time dodges, blocks, and attacks "skilled".

I'd feel embarrassed calling myself skilled next to the players of old who make me look like a noob at everything. tongue.gif

If you could even had a tiny brain you could understand enemy behavior. Now I haven't played Dark Souls, but I do hear conflicting opinions on it. Some say it's easier. Same say it's harder. No definite opinion.

But if it's easier...then yikes. Sure, maybe to this generation of gamers, Demon Souls is "really tough and hardcore", but it didn't seem that way to me. I'm not a super old gamer either, I'm 22, and to me, Demon Souls just seemed to be about average difficultly.

Now, something like Devil May Cry on higher difficulties...yes, that was difficult.

Try playing it on new game+++++++ on the darkest "tendencies."

Ill give you the devil may cry on the highest difficulty setting was hard, but they are different types of games. Devil may cry is all about crazy combos. Demon/dark are more realistic weapon fighters since they are about dodging and timing attacks.

If you think timig iss not related to skill, try 120 pvp at the final "archstone" in dark. There will be plenty of pros there to show you how wrong you are heh
