Sure it seems cheap, but the only way you can knock down someone in dks is either with a huge, slow weapon or a finesse move. In both instances, it's hard to pull off.

Finishing someone off when they're on the ground can be tricky, and the fact that it's so hard to knock someone down in the first place adds to both the sense of risk-reward and also realism

It is tough. I smacked a guy with my Dragon Tooth+5 and his DARK HAND allowed him to keep standing. I was amazed. The Dark Hand has 30 stability. Either he had a boatload of stamina, or something is messed up.

And if you're on the ground, then it's your fault. Don't blame anybody but yourself for a loss.

All I hear about Dark Souls PVP is how broken it is, full of glitches and back stabbers. Most common complaint about the game besides Blight town.

Okay, backstabbing is annoying though. I mean, it's still my fault for getting stabbed, but regardless it does get annoying. Blighttown isn't hard. You can skip the horrible part by taking a shortcut through the Valley of Drakes via Darkroot Basin. Skipped the entire god-awful section of Depths>Blighttown>Swamp just by doing that.

The hardest part of the game is the Capra Demon. Doesn't matter what your level is. NG, NG+, NG+120, that guy just plain sucks. As for individual areas, I'd have to say the Duke's Archives is the worst, if only because there are so many annoying enemies that hit pretty hard, even if you have nice armor.

I platinumed it, after rolling two characters one magic and one melee and the game is still the hardest thing this gen, maybe aside from Ninja Gaiden 2 on MN if only because it was so cheap.
Haven't mustered up the gusto to go after Dark Souls yet.

I'm amazed by people who have platinum'd Dark Souls. All of the Covenant stuff you have to go through would take forever. Congrats.

In the Nexus, the area where you spend a great deal of time, a NPC will sell it to you for like 1000 souls. Getting 1000 souls takes like less than a minute. My first time around, yes. I got Soul Shot, and was able to beat pretty much every boss with it, except a few, and it didn't require me to do anything but lock on, dodge, hit soul shot / recovery item for MP. I could do that the entire fight if I wanted to.
Soul Shot is the first skill you can really even learn.
I've been calling it the wrong name, it's been awhile, just looked it up. I mean "Soul Arrow" Dunno why I kept saying Soul Shot. But yes, you can get Soul Arrow almost right out of the tutorial. And then spam it with no problem, no matter what class you chose.
I was having trouble getting the timing right with some enemies occasionally, so I pulled out Soul Arrow and killed them before they could get close. Just spammed it.
I dunno about Dark Souls, but most people tell me it's easier, and if it's easier than that, well, yeah.
And older console gamers were indeed harder. But I'm talking about this generation seems to think these are the hardest games ever.

Yeah no doubt, magic makes this game easy. Try playing through the whole thing as melee like I did. Totally different story. Especially with full Havel's and the Dragon Tooth. Timing is key.

I guess the moral of this entire thread is that console games aren't always inferior thumb.gifbiggrin.gifthumb.gif

God of War 3 on Titan is awful. I made it to the 3-headed dog and I've never gotten past it frown.gif

Ill give you the devil may cry on the highest difficulty setting was hard, but they are different types of games. Devil may cry is all about crazy combos. Demon/dark are more realistic weapon fighters since they are about dodging and timing attacks.
If you think timig iss not related to skill, try 120 pvp at the final "archstone" in dark. There will be plenty of pros there to show you how wrong you are heh

Haha, rolling firestorm all day. God I remember how awful that used to be. So broken.

Ok, but if I go melee only, that's not using a game mechanic.

That'd be like not using guns in a shooter, only melee, ect.

Or not using any health potions in a RPG.

OF course any of these things would make a game hard.

But if a game mechanic makes the game really easy, then the entire game is easy. That's how it works.

O___o I don't think that's how it works. If you want to challenge yourself, you can. Just because it's a game mechanic does not mean you have to use it.

It seems like you have the opportunity to the make the game challenging, you just choose not to.

Whatever. Are you going to play it or just keep criticizing? Either play it or don't, it's easy enough to understand.

Magic doesnt make the whole game easy. Sure it makes some boss fights easy, but the boss fights in this series have always been kind of hit or miss

No he's dead on. It's like playing Halo with the pistol, if you don't think that pistol was broken than you obviously never played halo with the pistol.

They never said they were making "Dark Souls HD advanced PC edition", they said they were bringing it to the PC and the main reason they did it was so people who hadn't played on consoles for whatever reason (i.e. not owning a console) could play on PC. I'm pretty sure that was actually mentioned in the petition that got the devs interested in the first place.

There are apparently extra in game extras for the PC though that funny enough the devs have been blasted for because they haven't yet announced what their plans are to bring that extra content to the consoles so it's not quite exactly the same.
