Yeah...try a few different things and you'll work out what's best in your system. I'm still experimenting so the fun never ends thumb.gif

Tw33k, did your SB-E also come with a large bulge on the bottom? Mine rocked back and forth while sitting on my tablet and my thermal print was pretty bad. I know a bump was by design from Thermalright but this is a bit much.

I also tried remounting both North South vs East West fan layout and the results were the same. Using the CF3 Paste btw so I don't think there is a curing factor to put in.

I am thinking about lapping the SB-E and retesting because right now my EVGA Superclock CPU cooler was performing just as well as this one. Quite disappointed right now. mad.gif Hottest core on my i5-2500k @ 4.8 is 74C now, which was the same as the EVGA/Polaris 120.

It's not perfectly flat but when mounted it makes good contact, hence the great results. Bummer you got a bad one but I'm sure they will replace it ASAP.

UPDATE: Noctua replied to my request saying they can't provide an NH-D14 free but will send me one directly for $94.58 and once I publish my results they will refund me $37.88, meaning I get it for $56.70. They pay for shipping. I think I'm going to grab one. Then I'll know for sure which cooler is number 1.
I've already been made an offer for my Silver Arrow so hopefully I can re-sell the NH-D14 and get my money back.

Let me know when you plan on selling the NH-D14...or if you plan on selling one of the others. I'm looking to replace my Hyper 212+ with a real heatsink and have been eyeing the True Spirit 140 since it's in a grad student budget.

And awesome testing. I've really been wondering how the SA SB-E handles since I've only recently seen review sites start recognizing it and reviewing it.

I haven't ordered the Noctua yet and I'm not sure I will. Besides, unless you're in Australia you wouldn't want to buy from me as shipping costs would be huge

I'm surprised how close the SB-E gets to the Phanteks (even beating it)...

But still pleased with my purchase!
