A8-3870k I guess I'm doing something wrong.

Thread Starter
I have an ASRock A55 Pro3 which allows me to change the CPU and NB/GFX voltage, multiplier, and FSB (or whatever it's called now). The stock voltage for my motherboard is 1.425 volts and it goes up in .125v increments to 2.0v which obviously should never be used... So I set it to 1.45v which I've read some people do to get like 3.8 or higher stable, and I can't get even 1x multiplier higher without windows crashing when the CPU gets stressed.

Of course I've checked the temps, 30c is really all I've seen, it crashes before it can warm up I guess.

What am I doing wrong?

Edit: I p95'd stock voltage/clock and it refuses to go above 30c. I use a 92mm rosewill cooler if anyone cares.

More edit:
262rs69.jpgI know to use CPUTIN but why is core so incredibly inept? I broke thermodynamics?

Please fill in your rig specs.

Where are you seeing 4.xx volts? You mean 1.xx?

I recreated the build here: http://www.overclock.net/lists/display/view/id/4193382

The best I can currently do is 3.4GHz with any voltage. Works on stock. If I increase vcore it won't let me go any higher without p95 errors no matter what. Does that mean it's not the vcore that needs more voltage?

You still haven't filled in your specs under user control panel. Alot of people in here who could help will ignore new users with blank specs. Don't expect help if you're not going to put any effort into it.

I tried to find the user CP and I don't see it anywhere, the closest thing I could find is that system builder thing which I filled out and you can look at just as easily as my sig.

Just in case... http://www.overclock.net/lists/display/view/id/4193382
I'll restart my hunt for the user CP.

Hello,

First thing I'd do is reset the BIOS to default, update too latest version of BIOS.

Then set all options such as SATA, USB to whatever your preferences are,

All Llano APU's has a 100mhz base clock that everything (sata/pci etc) is tied to, so I would not recommend overclocking this way.

Disable Spread Spectrum and Cool'nQuiet(Cool'n'Quiet can be re-enabled once you are happy with all settings)

Increase the Multiplyer 1 at a time and boot into windows, if all boots OK run prime95 to 15mins just to have a quick check, then restart and repeat (The multiplier step not all of it)..

Once windows does not boot or Prime95 reports an error, increase the CPU voltage by 0.025v and try again.. Since the multiplier is being used memory and NB voltages should be fine at default.

I have build a PC with this Processor and a MSI A75MA-G55 and managed 3.7Ghz with the GPU enabled, but a warning it will get toasty with that enabled as well. When running run the ASRock Hardware monitor software to make sure temps are managed, below 60oc is fine but the lower the better.

What should the max voltage be? I've done this before and at 1.5v it would touch 3.4 again as always 100% stable, but at 3.5 (35x) it failed nearly instantly in p95.

I got it to 3.5 @ 1.45v but I went all the way up to 1.5125v (which I wouldn't have left it at for the record no matter how stable it was) and couldn't get 3.6 out of it. Is this a ceiling or am I doing something wrong?
