[K] Watch The First Footage of Halo 4, All 9 Seconds Of It - Page 3

Eh.. I think I read somewhere they are using the same Engine (+modifications) that was used in Reach.

Not interested.

The Engine used in Halo:Reach was terrible in terms of draw distance. 20+ ft ahead of you, and there wouldn't be no objects until 10ft in.

You can only do so much for a console that is using a X1950XT...

There is no such thing as recon...

There was however ODST, so im not sure how "ODST and Recon" were a letdown for you....

It's Halo... you pretty much know what you're getting at this point. I have no problem with sticking with a proven formula, but I do have a problem with the hypocrisy of the general gaming population when they criticize Call of Duty non-stop, but I don't hear a peep about Halo for doing the same thing, basically.

I'm not a big Halo guy but I did own Reach and I have to say it was pretty good. Just made for a slightly younger age group I think. Still a great game.

Halo games change with each new version? Nothing like COD that uses the same engine for every game since COD 4....

It's relatively easy to tell the difference between each of the Halo games, but the same can't be said for COD. I have played MW, MW2, MW3, and BO enough times to be moderately familiar with them, but if somebody plopped me down with one of those games running and they asked me to quickly tell them which game I was playing, I don't think I could do it.

CoD has been using the same basic engine since CoD2. Generally the games have used a modified version. For example CoD4 was a big leap from CoD2 graphically, and MW2 was a leap from CoD4 graphically. From MW2 to MW3 the engine appears to be identical, but generally the "same engine since CoD4" argument is a silly argument because there have been steady improvements until recently.

As for Halo... how much different was ODST from Halo 3? And Reach technically ran on a new engine but it didn't seem a whole lot different. It seems people give a pass to less popular games where they would harshly criticize CoD. In my opinion it's just because CoD is at the top. It seems people have some reaction to criticize what is popular in order to seem non-conformist.

Yes, MW3 was an egregious, inexcusable case of "copy-paste" developing, but personally I admire any company for sticking with a successful formula. Look at what Microsoft is doing with Windows. Look at what Sony did with SOCOM. Even Battlefield isn't what it used to be. It's better to be cautious about change.

I'm someone who's loved Halo since it was the game to play on consoles, and Halo 2 was one of the most anticipated games while Call of Duty was a mildly popular game (not a series yet at the time, only "Call of Duty," a PC exclusive) and personally I enjoy the Halo games because I love the gameplay, the music and atmosphere of each new release, while Call of Duty feels fairly generic to me and I just could never get into it. I might be biased because from 2001-2007 Halo was IMO a top quality series where each new release really mattered and was honestly worth the wait. ODST and Reach were released within a year of each other but that's the first time this has happened and they feel different enough for me to let that slide, and last year only a remake was released and I cannot fault them for that (by the time Halo 4 comes out, it will have been over 2 years since a truly new release), but if it does get to the point where every single year there's a boring, uninspired "new" release slapped on store shelves for the holiday season I'm going to be pretty disappointed at how far this series has fallen.
