What RAM for the best OC?

Thread Starter
ok so il be getting the DS3 motherboard with an intel Core 2 Duo E6300 and i wanna know some things, hurray to the helpers

1. I cant afford 2 Gigs of ram now, so will a single stick of 1GB of ram hurt my system? (2x512mb isnt an option if i wanna upgrade to 2GB later)

2. What 1GB stick out there can get me the highest overclock?

3. Do i wanan go for RAM with tighter or looser stock timings?

Why isn't 2x512MB an option? It's not an AMD rig, so 4x512 will be ok. However, i'd still go for a single 1GB stick, so that upgrading to 4GB (hey, Vista you know) is an option in the future. You want RAM that overclocks well. Timings don't matter too much for an Intel rig, but tighter is better. However, you should get at least DDR2 800 if your serious about overclocking.

As far I am concerned, there is only one choice:
G.SKILL 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) $149.99

Obviously, the issue is that adding a second stick later does not guarantee dual channel. Likely yes, but since it's not a matched pair, there is no guarantee.
