How Much For Water Cooling?

Thread Starter
Say I wanted to watercool my system. Cpu, Vid cards, and maybe chipset, but idk? I may get a new case either a NZXT Switch or a Corsair 650D maybe 800D. How much would this cost me? I'm not sure I want an Entry level watercooling kit, but maybe something a little more advanced. I'd like to have quick disconects. Compression fittings. I want to use a FrozenQ Blue Helix Res. Minimal tubing. Let me see what you can come up with that will make me say "I'm ready to jump into a long money pit."

Edit: Possibly may get a 680...

Well what you're saying it already sounds like itll be quite a bit

So this is a rough guess of how much parts usually cost

res 100
tubing 20
cpu 70
gpu 100
pump 80
fittings 100
rads 100
fans 50

So thats like... about 650 or so?

You could go more expensive or cheaper by quite a bit though

As for cases, I'd say you should get the 810, those have so much space for radiators, and is so friendly for watercooling biggrin.gif

or an 800D, you could hide stuff at the bottom, but you should probably get one of those two cases, or else you might not be able to hold all the radiators inside your case

its always nicer to have to ability to upgrade.
with smaller cases, you'll be stuck with not much space for rads and stuff, then you may be wishing you bought the bigger case

Yeah I expect around that much. I have a HAF X which is a big case, but I'm kinda done with it. Not for water cooling. Better air cooling imo.

peopie hit it on the head. quick disconnects cost about 30 for male/female connectors i believe and the only thing i see is for res you could easily pick up a 150-250 bit res. for 30-40 $

Lol Well name being HAF=High Air Flow. The top is quite large, I have my H100 in p/p in the top which works just fine, but if i were to do a full loop. I feel I would want to have a 360 on top + maybe a 120 on the rear or a 240 in front. The drive cages aren't removeable. Big 200+mm fan in front instead of 2x 120/140s. I'd like more options. Which I didn't consider when i bought the case. Just time and research has brought me to want a different more "modular" case with out REAL modding. Not saing you CAN'T do watercooling in it. I just don't find it to be ideal. thumb.gif

hmm, let's assume you go absolutely nuts like what I did..

This is a copy of my excel sheet of how much I spent during one of my installs.. The amounts were in HKD, so I just made a rough exchange change (/ 7.8) to USD.

Gelid Wing 12 18 $288
Koolance CPU 370 1 $80
aquagraFX for GTX 580 1 $80
aquagraFX for GTX 580 1 $80
aquagraFX for GTX 580 1 $80
Black Ice SR-1 360 1 $120
Swiftech Radiator - MCR320 1 $60
Thermochill TA120.3 Radiator 1 $120
Thermochill TA120.3 Radiator 1 $120
Swifttech MCP655 12V Pump 1 $70
Swifttech MCP655 12V Pump 1 $70\
EK D5 Dual Top 1 $80
BP-6552D5AC-MBK 1 $375
Koolance VL4N-F13-19S Male Shutoff 1 $10
Koolance VL4N-F13-19S Female Shutoff 1 $10
VL3N-MG 2 $20
VL3N-F13-19S 2 $20
Bitspower Water Tank Z-Multi 80 2 $78
aquaero 5 XT 1 $160
Aquacomputer Poweradjust 2 Ultra-Series 6 $280
poweradjust 2 USB Black Faceplate 2 $35
Flow sensor "high flow" G1/4 for aquaero 2 $79
Frontplate for aquaero 5 XT Black 1 $12
Temperature sensor inline G1/4 for aquaero 4 $37
waterblock for aquaero 5, G1/4 1 $20
twinConnect kit for GTX 1 $18
Connection cable for flow sensor 2 $6

$2348 USD for the above, not to mention the stuff I changed because I did not like the look once it was installed, a whole box of extra fittings and disconnects, sleevings, cables, connectors..

Now I really wish I did not add all that up.. doh !!! redface.gif

I agree, HAF X is great air cooling case, decent water cooling case, excellent water cooling case if you do some modding.. Just FYI, the 200mm fans has lousy static pressure, good for intake/exhaust where high CFM has a advantage, but where there's a radiator in the way, static pressure is also very important... just my $0.02

Yikes!!! Idk if I want to get that balls deep, but I do see why. I'm hoping to spend around...600-800 or so maybe? This is going to be a gradual project. I plan to start with a new case. Then take my 1st step and get my Cpu under water so. Radiator. Res. Pump. Block. and tubing. Then figure if I'm going to grab a 680 or scuba my 6870's or if I do have the money... water 680. Which I think is going to need a 120mm rad too?

Do yall think I should grab a RASA 750 Rx360 kit to start or should I get the Cpu block, Res, Rad, and Pump that I truly want? If I get into H20 I want to be able to use it in future builds with minor upgrades here and there. Want my Roots to last a while.
The RASA kits are a good kit, quality is not the best but you get what you pay for.. It's a excellent starter kit, and yes, you will also be future proofing yourself since the radiator and pump is re-usable..

eg; If you upgrade from say 1055 to 2011 one day, just change the CPU block and you are good to go. Water cooling is expensive when you first step in, but once you have accumulated stuff over a period, most of the stuff is re-usable, so it's all good..

I suggest getting the RASA kit and a GPU block, this is the "best bang for the buck" route.. The frozenQ Helix is pretty expensive last I checked, like $100+, but looks sexy...
