Question about 500R fan placement.

Hi, finally got my Corsair 500R, and I'm in the middle of transferring my system from my old Lian-Li PC-V1200 PLUS II.
My Lian-Li had four Scythe S-FLEX 800RPM fans installed, and right now I am questioning where I should place them, I'm thinking I would place two of them in the top, however as the dustfilter is placed on the lid, the fans should intake air right? However if I place two fans on top, there is only one fan (back fan) that is a outtake fan, is this to much positive pressure? Having the two front intake fans, the 200mm fan on the side as intake, and the two fans on top as intake, and only the back fan as outtake, sounds like much positive pressure in the case...

A lot of people prefer positive pressure cases. Plus it helps keep dust out and from building up in the small open areas between the doors and such.
Instead of sucking for what air can get in wouldn't having access air trying to get out be better? smile.gifwink.gif

I'm under the impression that you have the white 500r as you see a filter on the top panel. From what Corsair George mentioned, that filter was mainly for aesthetics so you won't see the white panels so easily. It is removable, as I have done it, should you decide to if you want to make your top 2 fans as exhaust. Having 2 intake fans on the top would be a bit much. If you check out ehume's thread Here, you can get a sense of the possibilties for air flow in the 500r (since it qualifies as what he considers a good case to try air cooling fan placement). I've tried the block-the-top-rear-and-have-intake-on-top-front and 2 exhaust on top variant. Both of which gave me cpu temperatures within 1-2°C differences of each other, but laziness came in and I just left it at the top 2 as being exhaust.

If that didn't confuse you enough (blame me for doing lab reports at 12:45AM), it wouldn't really hurt to try the top 2 as intake. Since you are just transfering to the 500r, leave cable management alone for a bit, do some tests and have some fun smile.gif. You always have the chance to rearrange.

Thanks, didn't know it was for aesthetics only biggrin.gif So what would you choose? I'm using a CM212+ with the original fan that came with the cooler, and it is blowing towards the back, into the only exhaust fan, so would it be best to make fresh air down towards the cooler and fan, or have them exhaust air, as hot air travels upwards?
