hey every one,

I have been waiting on the new ivy bridge CPU to come out and it looks like next week it is going to be here. After doing some small amount of reading on the fourms I came across something that got me thinking. which new Ivy bridge would be better to get the i7-3770K or the i5-3570K. I am mainly going to be using this computer for gaming and some times backing up my movies on to my server.

any advice here would be great

thanks

3570k. But that's just me.

Unless you're upgrading your board as well just get a cheap 2500K, if the 95w rumors are true then it's practically the same.

i will be going with an ASUS P8Z7 deluxe MOBO, so i will be working with ivy bridge and pci-e 3.0 since i plan on getting a GTX 680.

Most people tend to recommend i5 for general usage and gaming since (last i checked at least) games tend not to use more then 4 threads, so the cost for 8 threads( Hypertheading) found on i7's tend not to be worth the extra cost if the extra threads are rarely being used. But of course some dont mind the extra cost factor tongue.gif

i7's are good for things that are very cpu intensive such as video encoding/ripping, Although these can be done with the the i5s they would take a bit longer. So i just kinda depends what your using it for biggrin.gif

(sry if i typed this weird, kinda sleepy >_>)

plus generally a 4c such as an I5 can overclock better than a 4c/8t unless the i7 you turn off HT but this is not always true as it comes down to the chip... either will server you well and no real difference unless your doing extensive encoding smile.gif
