anyway, for 4GHz you might just need the NB (CPU/NB) at 2600 or 2800 MHz and lower its voltage to 1.35v if possible. set HT voltage to 1.25v instead of auto.
are you using onboard audio?

Nope using a sound blaster.

I don't touch HT.

Ok what i will do is try NB with 2600 n 2800 @1.35v . but this on the older board as I have shifted the 960T to the old one.

so, did you disable onboard audio? or does it do it auto?

not familiar with your mobo's bios but just adjust your nb down a notch to 2600 and proportionately lower your voltage to 1.35v or even lower if you can (see if it boots). adjust accordingly.

the idea is lowering voltages to lower your temps. but like i said, the cpu cooler is vital to achieving lower vcore/temps. i had the 212+ and i needed higher voltages for the same freq.

also, did you turn off C1E, C&Q, HT, Turbo? C&Q can re-enabled after stability is reached. i use C&Q if oc is set 4GHz and below.

onboard is disabled.

C1E/C&Q/Turbo all disabled. well my system well after my NB is @3000 , the problem was actually between Amd overdrive and coretemp as I just wanted to know if AMD Overdrive shows only socket temps and not coretemp. But after putting the old board back it has started showing me core temp as they CORETEMP and AMD Overdrive match.

Are you using a 880 chipset ? and what make Asus / Gigabyte ?

it may be labeled differently - like - Hyperthreading. that sucks. so, i figured you have not run prime at your current setting?

anyway, so long as you can fly(play fsx) without crashing and you don't use your rig for work.

btw, i got this mobo here in ocn for $65. i waited for ivy but it seems i have to wait longer.

I dont if i should go and buy a new mobo and throw the gigabyte out.

That is my home machine but I still use it for work but i have my lappy too.
