ATT vs Verizon...

Yeah going back to this thought...

I came to the conclusion i really am not comfortable with the limitation of only having 16gb of storage on the One X... Which pretty much means theres nothing on ATT that I really want right now.... There IS the Galaxy SIII set to be announced....and i probubly will wait the what..week and a half to see what it brings to the table just in case...

Basically.. Devices-wise im down to either the RAZR Maxx or the Galaxy Nexus, The Maxx has an SD Card slot, the Galaxy Nexus has 32gb which is plenty comfortable for me, Im leaning towards the Nexus because of the screen and the Pure android experience, Im rarely far from a charger to be honest and I can always switch batteries in the Nexus if I have to... I use it a lot for media/interwebs stuff... Making skype calls, normal calls, texting, music and streaming video.. most of the time if i need to look something up in the browser then im on skype with someone... So yeah...

What Im asking here is there anything im not thinking of when it comes to switching? Is there any massive network advantage between ATT and Verizon? I dont really go international, Except maybe to Canada...

Consider Verizon has LTE live in my area now, And in fact just upgraded the coverage(When i tested it in the store i got 25mbps on the RAZR Maxx, , ATT is HSPA+ supposedly, but i normally get about 1.5mbps or so... maybe 3, and if im incredibly lucky, 5....

I am a FiOS subscriber as well, so i know that nets me a discount with Verizon

I do have an unlimited data plan with ATT, but i can live with a 10gb/month cap comfortably, I do hit the 3gb "throttle" cap on ATT pretty frequently...

Also whens the double data thing end? i looked it up and there doesnt seem to be an end date on it... The idea of getting 10gb of data right now is VERY bloody appealing... and if im going to switch, that right there is a pretty large factor in timing...

Is there anything I'm missing?

Sprint is out because no LTE in our area(though i know we're on the list), i tried out their data network and got at best 400kbps on speedtest.net... Which is abysmal... I even tried to just -use- it and still got frustrated with how slow it is, the EVO 4G LTE is a fantastic device and would be, if carrier was no question, the phone I'd buy most likely...but a great phone on a network that simply isnt up to snuff in my area would be kinda frustrating

The store i went to was pretty crappy and took forever to help anyone, I never even got to speaking with anyone and i was there for about 30 minutes playing with one of the phones testing out the data vs my iPhone 4....So i didnt get to discuss any discounts or anything...or even if it was just a REALLY bad area

Also when i priced out their plans they ended up being more than staying with ATT or going to Verizon if i remember right... and we do get a discount because of the other person's place of employment (It will be a family plan)

The other person involved isnt too fond of the Sprint devices they saw... They felt they were a bit eh overall (Though the EVO looks interesting, they werent impressed with HTC's build quality on the devices they saw) They like the RAZR Maxx for its battery life and would like that over the Nexus

I ran across a video comparison, where the guys actually said flash performance (Which is important to me) was better on the Nexus than on the One X, in fact, in the demo (using just a normal flash-enabled website) the One X chugged where the Nexus ran it perfectly butter smooth....they actually recommended the Nexus at the end of it, saying that Sense 4.0 was lacking polish and that the Nexus simply worked better for most things...

But that contradicts most of the OTHER things I've read :/

I just hate the thought of buying something, getting locked into 2 years with it, and hating it 3 months from now for one reason or another

Yeah, if you look up "Buffalo" and "sprint" online you find a LOT of folks in the area who complain of the abysmal speeds, Keep in mind 400 was the best speed i managed to irk out of the thing, I got 120-200 at times.. There are a lot of people here who have apparently complained hard enough because frankly, That makes most of the smartphones utterly useless...

I have friends in other states with Sprint who rave about it, Their network is just good where its good and when its bad..oh god is it bad...

I find it interesting a lot of people pitching the Galaxy Note.. Why exactly is that? I played with one for a short period of time (Before the device bricked itself in the ATT store.. i had like 5 seconds of use of it and it bricked on me) The size is a bit...weird...but is the phone itself really that good compared to a One X or potentially what the S3 likely is?

Anyways back on topic, I dunno, I'm still on the fence for switching but starting to lean away from it, While I have throttling, if i upgrade to an LTE device i get upped to 5gb before i get throttled... and even now I guess I'm lucky as I've never been -throttled- by ATT, I did finally get a warning this month about it however (When i was basically playing "lets see how long until ATT gets pissed" and watching hours of youtube videos) but my speeds are still completely fine, and I only pay $30 for it versus $50 to get 10gb of data on Verizon.....while i could go with 4gb for $30 to get some actual -savings- in the plan....BUT....as crappy as it is...being throttled is better to me than paying $10/gb in overage charges should i go over from my perspective... and i think 4gb might be cutting it a hair close for my usage..especially with the uber-fast LTE data tempting me

I ran through the idea of going and picking up the Verizon Galaxy Nexus and giving it a run and trying it out to see if it will work out for my needs, However the return policy utterly scares the living crap out of me with all the fees.. Basically, if i do it, i gotta be damn sure im doing it..... Plus the out of pocket money.. Well.. Remember what i said about the unlocked devices being too pricey? I guess i didnt calculate out the idea of paying $300 for a phone, Plus i believe its 2 months worth of service, Plus activation fees, and then 8.75% sales tax which gets me pretty bloody close to the price of getting something unlocked... Joy for not thinking things through lol

I am kinda hoping the Galaxy S3 or whatever will be perfect... I'm thinking its going to be basically an S2 with a better screen, better processor and better battery life with enhanced build quality, a sort of Samsung iPhone killer(Hopefully either 32gb or 16gb with microSD), if not, the One X is an excellent second choice.. I will somehow manage to make the 16gb storage work for me (I really am thinking i can make it work...)
