Pure Nonsense. Many CLC owners report leaks in forums all over the Net. Check the Corsair H50 forum and elsewhere...

In addition even if a mfg. is willing to pay for the damaged PC hardware, they can't guarantee you won't lose data and you are without your PC for several weeks while new parts are obtained, parts shipped back and forth and then you must rebuild your PC - with no guarantee that a water-leak won't happen a second time. Why would anyone want this water-leak liability when CLCs offer NO technical advantage over a highend HSF?????

Compared to a highend HSF CLCs:

1. Are thermally inefficient

2. Are a poor value

3. Are Noisy

4. Offer no technical advantage for the majority of PC users

You might want to read the link above where all of these aspects of CLCs and others are discussed without the meritless comments like "it will never leak" which no one can guarantee and many can prove is false.

There is no technical merit or logic for most applications to endure higher cost, higher noise, lower thermal efficiency and a water-leak liability when a quality HSF provides better cooling, a lower cost, lower noise and is extremely reliable.

As always I recommend that people Buy What Makes Them Happy but please do NOT spread false information on CLCs as this is a great disservice to forum members looking to make a technically informed purchasing decision.

Your right in saying there all quite expensive, but in terms of noise/performance they are hard to beat. They are also much better value than per filled water cooling solutions. What case is it for? Do you have a specific budget for a cooler?

If its a fairly low end build for your grandparents, and you just getting the cooler for silence, pre filled water cooling is the worst way to go IMO. The water coolers are bad value, risk of leaking(making you look bad to your grandparents if it did) and if you went Corsair at least(not sure about the others,) you wont get silence without swapping fans, adding to the cost.

EDIT: Sorry, jsut saw the 50 Euros part

How about this? http://www.amazon.de/noctua-NH-U9B-K%C3%BChler-Socket-1366AM2/dp/B002SLJMQ2/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1334788489&sr=8-3

Sorry its Amazon Germany, had to get a way to get the prices in Euros:P

i dont get it why you would need anything other than the stock cooler for an I3!! it is silent and will do the job.. even in a hot country like thailand the stock cooler works just fine and quite smile.gif

Thread Starter
I was always under the impression the stock coolers are quite bad coolers and were noisy. I just wanted to make his pc a bit more silent together with maybe a better constant temperature. I thought the A40 would be helping me out with the back fan at the same time. But I see the general idea is that I was wrong. Which is fine, that is why I asked here thumb.gif

Thanks for the advice everyone.

Thanks for the advice everyone.

Some of the newer OE stock coolers are quieter than in the past. It really depends on the specific model CPU. Any of the aftermarket HSFs will be quiet and offer more cooling capacity.
