I meant that BF3 isn't an either company game. The only "NVidia games" are TWIMTBP games, which BF3 is not.

Even then, Deus Ex: Human Revolution is "an AMD game" but runs fantastically on my system. If BF3 runs horribly on AMD cards then that's a DICE problem.

I've had ati, amd cards before and they worked fine on games. I think it's just hit or miss combined with your luck lol.

Btw, my Radeon 7850 overclocked @ 1200core on stock voltage performs the same as the GTX 580 in BF3. The only problem is that my CPU is bottlenecking.

@ OP

Switching from 560ti to 7850 would be an upgrade.

You should personally guarantee the OP that his card will clock to the same as yours or give im his money back, then... nope? Can't do that? Hmm.

It's a sidegrade. He should wait for 660.

Want guarantees. Get a factory overclocked HD 7850 at 1 Ghz.

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Powercolor/HD_7850_PCS_Plus/

HD 7850 is an excellent performer. At 1 Ghz you get GTX 570 performance and 1.2 Ghz you really get to GTX 580 perf. For a card which is selling at USD 240 - 270 and gives the performance which you were able to get from a high end card which was costing USD 500 till early this year , its no small feat. thumb.gif

Just get a 6950/6970 from the ocn market place, it goes from $170-220 USD.
or you can get a 7870 for $220

6950 pars with 7870, - just 7870 plays things at ultra high res better than 69xx by ~ 9%

GG.

who cares about game benches, they don't really count in my oppinion.
Some games are geared towards some gpu engines.

such as A.V.A. is geared towards Nvidia's Physx engine.

Also on the same note, Nvidia is geared towards in F@H as well.

While in Boincing, ATI is favored for its raw power.

And personally guarantee the OP he's going to get a 200mhz overclock on factory overclocked card thumb.gif Not going to happen. Each card is different and suggesting a purchase based on possible overclocks achieved by a minority of people is irresponsible. Going by factory overclocks, it's about 10% faster than the Ti, which is a sidegrade and not really an upgrade much at all.

It's a few FPS, it's a sidegrade. If he wants an upgrade, imho, something like the 660 series, or even waiting for a Radeon 8000 series card would be a better spend.

Oh, if the OP is just going to play games, then this is just a waste.

all the above I posted are for high powered crunching gpu's.

only minor improvements in games.

biggest jump you will see is:

680/690's

just wait son.

however the 6970 is a ~ 45% improvement in computing power over the 560 TI

kinda a no brainer.

in games its only about a 7% fps increase.

not really worth it for games.

so at this point its, go big or go home.

7870+
or
680+

or like said above, wait for 8000 series.

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Powercolor/HD_7850_PCS_Plus/28.html

perf summary (1920 x 1200)

GTX 560 Ti - 85
PCS+ HD 7850 - 100
GTX 480 - 100

thats a 17.5% perf improvement (85 x 1.175 = 100 approx ). and thats an average. In DX11 games like crysis 2 it goes up to 30%. And there is more left in the tank. All of this for a cooler, quieter running card with lesser power draw. If a GTX 560 Ti to GTX 480 / GTX 570 is a sidegrade , please rethink. And also there are games which are not going to be playable maxed out like BF3 Ultra 4X MSAA at 1080p/1200p because you run out of VRAM. PCS+ HD 7850 can easily play those games with its 2GB .
The OP is smart enough to figure out for himself that these cards are good overclockers and there is perf to be gained. So I don't think he is going to ask for guarantees. You forget that the GTX 580 is still selling at USD 350+ prices.

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/search.asp?keywords=gtx 580&sort=1&recs=10

Any reasonably smart person would get a factory OC HD 7850 like PCS+ HD 7850 and push for 1.2 Ghz speeds and get close to GTX 580 perf for 100 bucks lesser. thumb.gif
