The i5-750 is pretty much an i7-920 without a hyperthead. Both are clocked @ 2.66Ghz, 8MB Cache and the i5 actually has a higher turbo clock of 3.2Ghz vs the 920s 2.93Ghz. From what I've seen my i7 tends to only use 3 or 4 threads anyways, shouldn't be a big deal.

BF3 is a VRAM hog so as far as GPU's go, to play on Ultra with a 1080P res, you will want something with >1024(1G) of VRAM. An i7 930 will serve you well for a while to come.
