Asus X5DIJ laptop Intel T3100 processor upgrade - help needed please?

Hi,

I have an Asus X5DIJ laptop with an Intel T3100 processor. I would like to replace the processor to a better, non-Celeron one, that supports Intel Speed Step technology. I have four questions that I so far could not find definite answers for:

1) The BIOS does not show any frequency or multiplier option at all. If I stick in a processor that uses different MHz and/or multiplier, will it work (i.e. will BIOS adjust MHz and multiplier automatically? - because there is no manual way to change it.)

2) What non-Celeron processors would go into the same socket?

3) If I replace the processor, will the Windows 7 Home Premium that came with the laptop still work?

4) Will a processor that supports Intel Speed Step result significantly lower temperature / consume less power? (I use the laptop for a dictionary application and reading ebooks only, nothing else, not even Internet, so processor usage is never more than 5% at the very maximum. I would like to keep the laptop as cool as possible while want to spare with the battery as much as possible as I often use it on battery and I guess with a Speed Step processor it lasts longer with one charge?)

Thank you
