whats the best gaming antivirus software

Hey ocn i want to know the best av for a gaming rig, im dumping $2100 into this thing so i want it to be protected (btw price dosent really matter for av). but i want a av that wont give me a performance hit, and stuff (i dont know much about this stuff). i have heard that ESET NOD32 antivirus 5 is a good av for gaming computers, because it dosent really take a performance hit, but what truly is the best av for gaming?

AVAST!

I use only the free version, but I have had pro before and I must say.

It is the best for these reasons:

It does not conflict with other programs.

It has sandbox mode

It is not resource heavy

You can turn it off with grace and ease...like 2 clicks...you cannot say that about Norton or CrapOnme (McAfee). Say, If you had to install an app or you wanted to forgo having it on to run another scanner, such as Combofix.

It includes a boot-time scanner that can assist getting those PITA bugs that just won't let go.

All AVs use the same CVE database for detection signatures...why pay more for programs that actually have REMOVAL TOOLS. when AVAST just gets it done.

ISYN, if you roll Norton or McAfee you should always run the removal tool after uninstall to make sure it is really gone...or it might conflict with your new AV.

I have repaired PCs for years and even previously worked as a computer technician for a small company, if someone did not wish to buy into the hype of Norton or just did not wish to spend the money per computer. I always suggested AVAST! as a free option and always encouraged them to upgrade to Pro if they enjoyed the software.

note: I always couple the free version with Malware bytes...this is a manual scanner, unless you get the pro version...again a great tool and it will help to keep you relatively clean, unless you are a dirty person -_-

i dont know if i have heard enough good things about avast to get it for it, like idk how much of a performance hit ill get with it, ill have less of a performance hit with ESET NOD32

I like ESET NOD32. Works wonders, doesn't hog resources.

i personally just use a combination of Microsoft Security Essentials and monthly scans of Malwarebytes. Haven't had any issues what so ever.

im afraid that if i do Microsoft Security Essentials and like a Malwarebytes scanner, that, that will slow my performance up more in gaming than ESET NOD32

MSE is one of the lightest AV's I've ever used. Even with a lousy AV the performance difference would be unnoticable on current hardware...

Avast is a crappy AV.

Get MSE, light and for a free AV it has pretty much all you need.

I also use Malwarebyte (for malwares obviously) and Search bot and destroy (for spywares/adwares and rootkits).

Search bot & destroy is quite nice since it will automatically alter the spyware/adware which is in fact a "malicious" cookie. These cookie can steal or collect informations and you got these from pretty much every web-site because they do data-mining with that and make money. A hacker could also spy on you, collecting sensible information via this too. The program "vaccine" the browser so every time it receives a cookie from a server it alters it to make the cookie useless for the host.

If you know you will go on "dangerous" web-site, I use no-script on firefox. Prevents anything that is a script to run on your computer.

Use different browsers. If you do online banking, do it on chrome by example and use fire-fox to check potentially "dangerous" web-sites. Not saving cookie is also a way to prevent pretty much any bad thing but you will always lose saved informations (no auto-log possible).

Just to add also, MSE, S&D (search and destroy) and malwarebyte aren't annoying. I've had avast, norton and a few more I forgot. They were damn annoying saying "I blocked, this or that". Only malwarebyte is a bit of this kind but it is more informative than just "hell yea buy me! do it!".

Why does it matter. Your building a $2100 rig meaning that you will have more than enough power to run even vintage versions of norton antivirus without slowdowns.
