Thats pretty much it. When I want to play an RPG I fire up the PS1/PS2 .
Dreamcast had quite a few gems as well.

Ghosts'n Goblins/Ghouls is - I imagine - still the toughest game in history.

RPGs where never better than they where on PlayStation (one), though PS2 had plenty of great ones too (Xenosaga, Grandia II, Tales of the Abyss, Kingdom Hearts/II/RCoM). Still dig my PS1 & 2 out everynow & then. Just beat LUNAR: Silver Star Story Complete & Final Fanasy VIII again a month ago.

Paying the same price for a file with just a bunch of words also seems crazy to me.

And How! ..Could'nt agree more.

Nowadays stories that kept me hooked up:

-Mass effect (1, 2, 3).
-The witcher 2: Assasins of kings.

Other stuff:

-Call of duty 1 and 2 in multiplayer.
-Unreal tournament 2004.
-Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos.
-Age of Empires 2 (also the 1st)
-Rome: Total war.
-Crysis.
-Homeworld.
-Need for speed: Underground.
-Warhammer 40.000: Dawn of war.
-Diablo 2.

Can't really recall more now....

Ice Wind Dale series
Baldur's Gate I,II and expansion
that will keep you busy for a while
CIV I and II (specially II)

If you like NES and SNES stuff :

what I did :
1) got a PSP out of the dust, never got ot use it more than 1 month after purchase.
2) Installed a SNES emulator on it
3) Downloaded a pack with more than 700 ROMS
4) installed them on the mem stick

Best time investment ever.
Just fire it and play

Oh man Baldur's Gate I remember being blown away when I saw the intro to it tongue.gif . I'm in the same boat with the PsP I rarely used it and it's just collecting dust. The DS lite i got when it came out I used even less. I'm probably skipping on the current gen handhelds. Could you point a fellow to where you got the information on how to do that to your PsP?

No problem.

The emu Im using (does not mean its the best or runs 100% of the games)

SNES9X Euphoria R2.1 (or latest , can't remember)

also Snes9xTYL mecm Rev. 091127 plays good.

you need a "homebrew" PSP, BTW
there are lots of options for this, can't remember w I choose.

as for the roms
I got this 5.6GB download, with much more than I needed
http:// that place we all know /torrent/6988236/6666_games_Nintendo_NES-SNES-Sega-GBA-Atari-Arcade_ROMs_emulator

of course you know that you must own all roms, prior to do this

Very few of them.

Witcher 2
Diablo 3
Guild Wars 2
Borderlands 2
Max Payne 3

Only games on my list that even remotely interest me... as you can see many of them are sequels and I played the originals when I was younger.

Sad to see very few people seemed to be PC gamers back in the day. Most of the old games I see posted are for console.

Here's what I played:

Wing Commander
Ultima
Master of Orion (MOO2 also)
Master of Magic
X-Com
Descent
Raptor: call of shadows
GTA2
Death Rally

How about X-wing and Tie-Fighter.
Pong
Choplifter for the Apple II
And of course the hottest game that came out with Windows 3.1 ............. Solitaire.

Try explaining to anyone born in the last 20 years what a MUD is, or was.
I remember those old text games on a TRS-80 that I used to skip school and play at Radio Shack around 1979. The salesmen knew next to nothing about the computers so they would let me hang out all day and answer the customers questions.
