G850?

Thread Starter
Been working on my new gaming build, swapping out the mobo for an 1155, and was wondering would this be a suitable choice instead of the i3 - 2100? I know the i3-2100 is better... but is it like significantly better to where I should shell out the 30-40 bucks to only have it at most 3-6 months

Money is tight right now, going to upgrade to the 2500k in about 3-6 months but looking for I guess a place holder, got a motorcycle to pay for right now. thumb.gif

Would I be able to do basic gaming? Not looking for incredible, as I'm still working on the build. I play League of Legends, and World of Warcraft mostly right now. Still using a 9800gt! My processor right now is a Pentium D at 3.0ghz, and I have 1gig of ddr2 ram. But I'm guessing switching out the mobo- 4gigs of ddr3 and newer processor will be at least a step up??

Thanks guys!

You'll be fine with a G840. I have a G850 on one of my sig rigs. Does even SC2 on high thumb.gif it will sure get you through 3-6 months.

Probably should even save more and just get a G620. It's same thing as the i3 except no hyper threading and 2.6GHz instead of 3.1GHz.

I was just about to ask that! I'm looking at that as well, you think I should just get the 620? It saves me another 20 bucks. biggrin.gif

Yes. It is the lowest of the Pentium class SB processors(only difference being clockspeed), next one down is a Celeron and with those you start to lose L3 Cache and even more clock speed. So if you go any lower than a G620 you mindswell pick up a G530:thumb: I say go for the G620.
