Current Deals on SSD's for a first time SSD buyer.

Thread Starter
Hi All. I am building a new rig and am looking at buying an SSD for the first time. Here is my build so far... Please recommend an SSD that takes full advantage of this build's power, is a good deal, is reliable (business use) and not as susceptible to slowing down or complete crashing. This will be my first SSD and I can't WAIT...but am a little nervous that it will fail frown.gif

Thanks!!!

Well, as far as "deals" go, I think there's a SanDisk 120GB SSD on sale for $100 (I think) right now. But whether or not it will meet your performance needs, I do not know.

Thanks everyone. Does the controller make a difference? I noticed some M4's say they use a marvell controller. Does this have something to do with Raid? With my mobo, should I be concerned about the controller and getting an SSD that will ensure I can RAID them in the future if I ever choose to?

Do you think 128gb drive will be enough? For awhile, the computer will basically be used for overclocking and gaming. i only really play BF3 . When everything is up and running smoothly and one of our other studio computers becomes outdated, I will be using this for the photography business full time and will need to put the following software on it: MS office, Proshow Producer, CS5, Lightroom, ProSelect (presentation software), Successware (studio management software) and then various other software (flash, java, Firefox, Malware Bytes, MSE, etc).

I'm hoping 128gb is enough.... thoughts?

I notice alot of different versions of the M4 on Newegg...but not sure which one to get. Does a SSD need to be compatible with a certain type of motherboard? The only difference I see is something about a marvell controller.

This is what I'm looking at:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=4017&IsNodeId=1&Description=M4&bop=And&Order=RATING&PageSize=20

I want to get the one with the most reviews...but I don't want to get one that isn't the best for my setup...

Help!

All the M4 drives are the same, the only difference is that there is one with a transfer kit, one with a 2.5"-3.5" adapter, one is 7mm thick for ultrabooks, one is just a plain SSD, get this one b/c it is the cheapest:
