Picture/product info: http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/store_access.do?template_type=cto_store&sto_cto=A2Z58AV&brand_name=hp

Processor: Intel Core i5-2410m 2.3Ghz, 3MB Cache
Graphics: AMD/ATI HD 6770M + Intel HD 3000 (Hybrid/Switchable Graphics)
Storage: 120 GB Mushkin Enhanced SSD (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820226236)
^-the only modification/upgrade made, much faster than a 5400 rpm drive!
OS: Windows 7 x64 Home Premium
Memory: 6GB RAM
Optical Drive: Blu-Ray player and SuperMulti DVD burner
Screen: 15.6” LED BrightView (glossy) screen with 1366 x 768 resolution
Wireless: Intel 802.11 b/g/n
Battery: 6-cell Lithium Ion
Web Camera: HP TrueVision web cam and microphone built-in
Ports: 4 USB (2 USB 2.0 and 2 High Speed USB 3.0), HDMI, VGA monitor out, Ethernet LAN port
Extras: Fingerprint scanner, Beats audio

The laptop itself is only 8 months old, the SSD is only 3 months old.

My brother is planning on selling it, and using that money to build a desktop. Trying to get an idea how much this would be worth locally, as well as on OCN so I can brainstorm ideas for his upcoming build.

Thanks!

Bump, anyone?

Should add that the laptop is still in excellent condition, no major scratches etc.
post #3 of 9
i would get the MRSP and sell it for 70 - 75% of that shipped is how i would esitmate its worth smile.gif

You can regularly find coupons on deal news for these, brand new, with i7s, 7690M, 8GB of RAM, and 7200RPM drives for ~$800. So I'd guess considerably less than that. I think you would do well to get $500 for it.

I'll probably sell this laptop locally, banking on the fact that people will compare this laptop to brick-and-mortar store (e.g. Best Buy) prices. I know people here on OCN who frequent slickdeals.net are too smart to fall for that tongue.gif

Ha don't know why I didn't think of that, but yeah it's a bit hard to get the exact MSRP since I can't make a configuration with those exact components.. the only two differences are listed below (left side = current configuration, right side = HP website configuration)

i5-2410m --> i5-2430m (.1 GHz faster than the 2410m)
HD 6770m --> HD 7690m (15% worse in notebookcheck.net's benchmarks than the 6770m)

$874.99 with those configurations, add $72.18 for tax (assuming 8.25%, Texas), assume free shipping = $947.18 MSRP

Since the solid state drive replaced the hard drive valued at $60, I think $60 extra would be fair to add on top of the price since I purchased the Mushkin Enhanced Chronos SSD for $120 on sale, so $1007.18 * 70% since used = $705.02

I guess it would be fair to price it somewhere between 650-750 then? (Not too certain how much value a 15% better GPU would bring, or how much value would detract from a .1 GHz slower processor)

Thanks for the replies, any additional input would be great thumb.gif

$650 - $750 seems reasonable.. $750 would be a good local sale say on Craigslist or dare i say eBay as well lol
but around $650 would make it gone quickly.. you could always also do an OBO at say $720 - $750 me thinks and see what offers you get smile.gif GLWS

Haha prior to using OCN marketplace, I used eBay for buying/selling many hardware components. But after years of eBay raising its fees, and factoring in fees charged by Paypal, it makes much more sense to deal locally or on OCN to cut out the middle man

thats why i say "dare i say" lol

maybe OCN marketplace $700 OBO and share shipping, $750 OBO if you can locally sell not on the OCN market place and see how you go.. you tend to get more on a local sale advertised locally and not on OCN so i notice smile.gif tough call to make so thats why i say OBO redface.gif
